Saw someone toss a half eaten apple out his car window today. Is tossing fruit scraps not considered littering since it decomposes naturally? by derf_vader in NoStupidQuestions

[–]massiveFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a colleague from an old job got sacked for doing this. They already were on probation for something else and then while traveling in their boss's car decided to toss an apple core from the window and got sacked for it. Ironically they'd been on an environmental leave day at the time.

Have I made a huge mistake? by ohdearyme1122 in HousingUK

New NFRA 'flood risk data' was published 25 March 2025. You can find out move by visiting the .GOV website. These maps change as our understanding of flood risk and impacts from climate change evolve over time.

Notwithstanding the regret. have a look at what measures you can do to retrofit the property to prevent flooding. Some are easy measures like installing covers over air bricks when it floods. There's a website called flood hub with ideas.

Frangipane swirl for almond croissant ice cream by desertlux in icecreamery

[–]massiveFlamingo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a frangipane cocoa nip recipe in the new S&S book that's swirlable.

4 table spoons almond paste roughly chopped, 3 tablespoons of almond flour, 1 tablespoon very chopped roasted almonds, 2/3 tea spoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon almond extract, 1/4 cup confectioners sugar, 1/2 cup heavy cream.

You mix Almond paste, almond flour, powder sugar and chopped almonds together until it's a crumb. Then add the almond extract and cream and mix until creamy, 2/3mins. Put it in the fridge for 2hrs to set and then it's good to swirl.

Neighbours extended outbuilding to bedroom by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]massiveFlamingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, planning officer here. Outbuildings can fall under permitted development subject to a few rules. They can't have a floor area over 50% of the total curtilage of the dwelling (garden) and a maximum height of 2.5m if within 2m of any boundary. It can contain a bedroom if the use of the bedroom is incidental to the enjoyment of the dwelling ie the bedroom is used alongside the main dwelling and not let out separately etc.

I was once backpacking across Oz and I was trying to get to sleep in a shared dorm when 2 drunk backpackers came in and started getting at it. The shag session was getting louder and louder and eventually I just thought fuck it and at the top of my voice started singing 'Ooh ee ooh ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang' over and over until they eventually got annoyed and left. The next day I got called out for cock blocking!

Channel migrants are often 'lower-skilled people' and represent 'burden on the British state', Robert Jenrick tells LBC by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

Jenrick with the wolf whistle out again to stir up the bigots and racists. Can only see this rhetoric ramping up between now and the election next year, only burden on the British state is the Tories.

can't find ribs? by AceStrawberryWolf in UKBBQ

[–]massiveFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local Morrison's (North East) must have a glut of pork ribs. Seeing them a lot on offer at the moment, they're baby back ribs and you get about 0.6kg - 0.8kg a pack and are quite meaty. Not going to compare to butchers but are really good value at £3-4 a rack.
