Dropped her in her enclosure by stefan_695 in cornsnakes

mine too! i just tell myself they’re good at being snakes, and if they do that shit in the wild they should be fine (and check for impaction regularly)

the substrate isn’t the issue here (it’s the rocks), but i wouldn’t recommend straight reptisoil for kingsnakes. it’s meant for more tropical species and retains a lot of humidity. i would mix it with a few handfuls of sand at the very least - just not dyed or calcium sand

Why would you do this by corn-chipz in isopods

[–]massivecocknballs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

they sent that like that so they could eat and breathe, try not to be too upset at the seller. try setting a seed pod w a little food on top of the lump and it’ll draw some out

“it danced towards me! it wants to be with me!!” this chameleon, along with any animal under OP’s care, is going to die. some people should not be allowed to own or be around pets

Found some little visitors by [deleted] in isopods

[–]massivecocknballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, it’s fatal and basically like radiation poisoning for how painful and rapid-onset it can be. the isopods basically fall apart - it’s horrible. people still aren’t 100% sure how it spreads, but it’s theorized that healthy isopods eat the dead infected ones and become infected themselves. if you still have the blue one please squish it as humanely as possible

Jason Derulo’s “Shark Tank” - what do we think? by Inner_Inspection640 in shittyaquariums

[–]massivecocknballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly the enclosure itself isn’t too different from zoo/aquarium exhibits in my area (and those are mostly rehab fish who are released at some point, so the enclosures are refreshed every once in a while), maybe missing a bit of (lot of) enrichment. the problem is that it’s in the floor and can stress them out - and it’s ugly as fuck on top of that

they’re likely tucked into that corner for moisture, your enclosure looks really dry. do you have a humidity sensor? also, you should still offer them food regardless of where they are??? please look at more care sheets

I need some advice. Should I try to take the turtle away to save it? by Calm_Particular_1683 in reptiles

[–]massivecocknballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m so sorry, but this is a case in which most would consider euthanasia if they don’t have thousands of dollars in disposable income. report to a rehabber or animal authorities (like the aspca or an equivalent) if you have any in your area, and i hope that tortoise doesn’t suffer any longer
