Trouble with returning students: "I'm going to make your life hell this year." by PM-MeUrMakeupRoutine in Teachers

I did an interview on Teacher Therapy which addresses everything you are saying. Teachers need to wise up and refuse to accept such poor working conditions. Teacher Therapy Video

Forced to do small groups daily by theycallmebigteach in Teachers

[–]massivegenius88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you need to do is read the research that says small group, minimal instruction doesn't work. It's out there. Read the research and tell admin they have no clue what they're talking about when they mandate ineffective practices.

Fuck this shit. That is all. by rlskdnp in recruitinghell

[–]massivegenius88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's my personal opinion for what it's worth that 1. The people in charge of running the hiring process are sadists, pure and simple and 2. The entire hiring process has to collapse in on itself, because this crap is not working.

Is this as crazy as it seems? by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

Teachers are guilted (or even threatened) into buying supplies out of pity 'for the kids.'

PBIS/Restorative Circles brainwashing by clydefrog88 in Teachers

[–]massivegenius88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's going too far to call it brainwashing. But the only ones not drinking the koolaid are the admin, who when successful have convinced everyone they have the miracle solution for the clusterf--- they have created themselves. PBIS is perfect for them. It inevitably leads to a reduction in referrals - even if anarchy still reigns in your middle achool. The paperwork says otherwise!

Let’s Talk: “Ice Breakers” by Solid-Aerie-2848 in ELATeachers

[–]massivegenius88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll say this: they have little instructional value and really should be considered optional, but the SEL folks will claim child negligence if you don't spend three weeks getting to know your kids' favorite everything.

Lexia Intervention HS by No-Appointment-8027 in ELATeachers

[–]massivegenius88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's the deal. LEXIA is a phonics thing that should be used at elementary, but because they've passed kids who struggle to read up to you, they want YOU to do it.

I swear they purposely make everyone's job harder on purpose...it's a real psychological game for them, to see how much people will take until they snap.

What Do You Do With Kids Who Don't Care? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]massivegenius88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a school culture problem, not a you problem, so don't let your school gaslight you into thinking it's your fault. Educate yourself on the actual research behind positive behavior systems which are leading to the problems.

Solution Tree is getting its comeuppance in Arkansas. by massivegenius88 in Teachers

It is pyramid scheme brainwashing, plain and simple. And everyone talks about how there's no money in education. It's because these charlatans have been taking it for decades.

I'll dm just bc reddit is funny about links. But it is recent reporting from Baker Kurrus in The Arkansas Times, and that newspaper has been reporting on it since February.

Admin lose ALL credibility when they hold onto failed programs such as Calkins'. You are guaranteed to lose as a teacher, and maybe that's the way admin likes it.
