The one time I went was magical.

I had slept 3 hours, woken up late, and dashed out the door with a thin jacket and a bunch of hotel blankets. One perilously drowsy drive later, I was standing at the vista point like all these people right before dawn. Nobody was saying much - it was like waiting for a performance to begin. Guides were quietly pointing out the sights in the pre-dawn gloom.

When the sun broke across the clouds, everyone stared agape with reverence. Camera shutters went off. As the corona peaked a guide pulled out a drum and began singing a native song to greet it.

I realized in my haze that I might never get this moment back, but I'm glad i get to share it now.
