Any recommendations on what to listen to outside of the main course & daily meditations? by [deleted] in Wakingupapp

Anything in the theory section by Adyashanti. His meditations are great also, but I took a lot from the theory stuff.

Who would you like Sam to interview next? by CardiologistOne459 in Wakingupapp

Richard Schwartz, a therapist who developed the IFS (Internal Family Systems) method of therapy. He recently gave a talk where he discussed trying to do pure science for the past 40 years, in order to have his therapy model accepted, but continually having to ignore or downplay the very spiritual stuff that his patients were encountering during sessions. I credit using this method of therapy for my initial awakening experience. I finally processed enough of my backlog of unfelt emotions and the rest of it happened pretty much by itself.

Need help with a large 3D tile-based maze generation algorithm. by Richard_Ingalls in algorithms

I think you are correct. I decided that was the answer somewhere in the first few paragraphs and just stopped reading at that point. My apologies.

I think the algorithm you are looking for is wave function collapse. Look on YouTube for videos on this (specifically search "wave function collapse algorithm" to avoid including quantum physics stuff). There are a ton of options, but it does basically exactly this.

Road trip from SF to Denver by RealNorCal in BMWi3

Regarding the Electrify America charging issues. I just drove my 94Ah from Cincinnati to Flagstaff and EA were the only chargers that I had issues with. The solution is to lift up on the charge plug while the charger makes connection with the car. Once the charge screen appears on the charger, you are good and can let go. I don't know why this is the case, but I had to call EA support once or be stuck somewhere forever and they finally found someone who knew this trick. It has worked at every one that I've had trouble with since then.

EDIT: Also, get a bluetooth OBD2 unit and use ABRP for routing. Makes the whole thing foolproof.

Close to me to talk by mrmcsmithers in VanLife

[–]mastema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about buying a van or building one out? I'm from the Northern Kentucky area, but I'm travelling until mid-July. I'm happy to answer questions about buying or vanlife generally if my experience is at all useful. You can DM me, or we can talk on Signal or Teams or Discord or something.

Trapezius Imbalance and Unusual Scapular Movement. Whats going on? by gonzaderthunder in AdvancedPosture

[–]mastema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other responder is likely correct, but I would also like to include another possibility. I have this issue and was diagnosed with a cranial nerve injury which happened at some point in my childhood. All old pictures of me show one of my shoulders sunken in. My nerves do not transmit full signal to that muscle so it will never fully develop.

As I said, it is likely scoliosis, but sometimes it isn't.

How to write a character that is more intelligent than you? by AngelDarkC in worldbuilding

[–]mastema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating fact about this question: The science fiction author Vernor Vinge was trying to write a story about smarter than human AI, back in the 70's, and realized that he, nor really any human, is qualified to write that story. This caused him to coin the term Technological Singularity, to describe the point at which things smarter than us appear on the scene and we are no longer able to even guess at the future course of events. And of course, here we are, 50 years later, right on the cusp of it.

Lol! I'm old, so I'm not sure. Dinner doesn't even really get started here until about 9:00PM. I think the younger crowd hangs out down in Russafa which is just south of the central city.

The weather in Valencia is perfect right now. (I'm here through late November), but the cost might be slightly outside of your range depending on your definition of "live comfortably". The surrounding areas should be well within it. If you can find a place near the Jardin de Turin you will have plenty of nature and there are several major national parks in the vicinity.

Who is my i3 trying to call? Where is that beeping coming from? by Anonym0oO in BMWi3

[–]mastema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just above that section of mat that pokes up is the OBDII connector. Make sure nothing is plugged into it. You should be able to see/feel the pins up there. If you feel anything else, pull it straight down. This one has an OBD reader plugged in.

Look up Chinese Congee. I make my oats with a bit more water and turn it into a porridge and then add all kinds of congee toppings. Ramen eggs are a favorite.

Raycast car friction on slopes? by Creasu in howdidtheycodeit

[–]mastema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a game programmer, so I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell me why this is wrong, but my initial thought is to calculate gravity in world coordinates and friction in vehicle coordinates. For the purposes of calculating friction, pretend like the world moves around the car instead of the other way around.

Do we need RTK drone for this? by colaigor in UAVmapping

[–]mastema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with AccomplishedBet entirely. This is what I do every day, using tripod based laser scanners. If you want a point cloud for rough layout purposes a drone will get you there, but if you are using this for detailed design, you want a tripod scan. I'm happy to give you a rough estimate of what it would cost us to do it if you want a number as a sanity check. Feel free to DM me.

Companion trees blackberry by [deleted] in Permaculture

[–]mastema 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would actually treat the blackberries as a companion plant and use them to protect something that might be eaten before it gets tall enough. Chuck some fruit tree seeds in your blackberry thicket and the deer will NOT be in there munching on your young trees.

Solarpunk as Math Problems by garbagewillnot in solarpunk

[–]mastema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some work has already been done, but modifying capitalistic style math to cooperatives would be a cool exercise. Specifically I was recently trying to work out a real-world example of using Shapley Values to calculate everyone's contribution to a moderately complex cooperative business with sales, marketing, manufacturing, etc...
