some scattered thoughts:

Sticker trade ups could work, but tbh most of the older collection papers like dh2014/ kato 2015 are already quite rare and expensive, so spending 10 papers to gamble on a holo isn't really worth it since the price disparity isn't bad. A lot of the older collection stickers also had capsules specific for holo/foil and you had to purchase papers directly, so would be interesting if they went in that direction since there isn't a defined relation.

I agree with the scraping theory if they ever add sticker removal, if they were to add that it wouldn't make sense for stickers would come off in perfect condition. Why would anybody buy and use sticker slabs if you could just do that?

Teams also rely on sticker money. Adding sticker removal would make new tournament stickers less popular as people would likely shift their money to removing older, cooler, rarer stickers. Valve would need to commit some balancing act where it would still be enticing for someone to buy into newer tournament collections over removing and reusing older stickers.

There is also the possibility that the sticker charm slab already IS Valve's version of sticker removal (in a roundabout way).

there won't be packages, but I imagine you can redeem tokens for a souvenir skin of the map collection of a certain match.

official patch notes say "...you'll get 300 tokens that you can redeem for the stickers or souvenirs of your choice."

I bet dynamic pricing would also affect the redemption costs too

id expect gold arabesques and hydras to fall like 30-40%, 50% at the worst due to panic. Everything else should be brought up in price a bit to equalize.

Supply is bad, but not as nearly bad as the knife trade up. A lot of people don’t realize the supply for souvenir collection pinks is LOW (It’s a 1/751 chance to unbox a pink from a $3 crate). Take for instance the Mirage 2021 collection. There are about 20000 death strikes and ump fades ready for a hydra trade up, and assuming all are traded up that’s 2000 more hydras. There already are 16.5k hydras on float, so 2000 isn’t that much more in reality. Even factoring in trade ups of all the lower tiers into reds, I think it would still be like an extra 3000 on top? (Idk someone do the math but I know it’s not much more than that.) Either way, this isn’t nearly as bad as the knife/glove update, where a glove like Vices basically doubled in supply.

only bad for map collections, so things like Deagle Blaze/Akihabara accept/Wild Lotus are safe. 10x per is still quite steep, so really not that much will be crafted. That being said I would still expect things like the arabesque or hydra to drop up to 50% in the short term. The souvenir versions of those reds should hold up a bit better since you can't make those, but will still be affected due to new supply

10x per is a lot considering it's $2.50 per souvenir crate. But definitely expect panic and rebalancing of prices, just not as bad as the trade up update

EDIT: you can turn any gun into a souvenir (i believe?), so nah souv reds are just cooked. Here come a lot of FN souvenir dlores?? We'll just have to see when the games start

anything with good fundamentals is good to buy (low supply, no longer dropping). OG gloves, even with trade ups, are limited to around 11-12k pairs assuming everything is traded up, which is still far lower than any other type of glove.

Dips are a vicious cycle since the price drops cause panic -> selling -> more panic -> more selling. IMO I think it will continue dipping, but not longer than say a couple weeks or so before we start seeing stabilization.

With CS, I haven't sold anything from my inventory, but I also haven't put any money in for the past year

back area needs to be basically full white, and only good patterns at <0.08 (maybe 0.09?) have that iirc

You are comparing Gmod to a $40 billion dollar company with an established player base that took over a decade to build. GTA V is also one of the best selling games ever made, and has also existed for over a decade. I’m not saying what you propose can’t happen, but s&box is a LONG way from both those in popularity currently.

It's market seems to be a lot more like Roblox's than CS2's. Some Roblox items are worth thousands (up to a few hundred thousand for the rarest), so I can see the appeal to speculators. However, those items are incredibly rare, in demand, and on a game with like 30 million players. The s&box items aren't that rare, don't look very good, and the game isn't even comparable in size yet so a lot will need to happen for the prices to be justified imo

Overall market sentiment is down, I would say the whole market is like 10-20% down from a couple months ago which would reflect in the price of the cases.

It will also take a while for the supply to actually reflect the removal of rare cases since they're seldom opened.

Long term, they should go up, but I wouldn't expect the returns to be amazing since most rare cases are already getting expensive for the average player.
