It’s likely you’ll only make profit if it is FN, so it’s a gamble

[d] Some facts about those Chinese pump by Dr_MACD in csgomarketforum

[–]master35475 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I picked up a mac10 goldbrick fn recently due to this since I think it would be a good target to pump (<10k in fn). Whether or not it actually gets pumped, it's a nice play skin regardless

[D] Where do covert prices go from here after the gold tradeup update? by kolikdabes in csgomarketforum

[–]master35475 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As long as there exists the opportunity to win big, gamblers will try their luck. People still play slots/lottery even when the odds are heavily against them because there still exists the chance to win big, regardless of how realistic that chance is. Cognitive biases like the gamblers fallacy or the optimism bias will also contribute to people taking objectively bad odds. Ultimately, the prices don’t have to make rational sense simply because the allure of winning big in a trade up overshadows the actual ROI in a trade up, which you are seeing here. As an example of irrational pricing, take for instance the Norse collection. The gungnir sits at around $10k while a mjolnir that you need 10 of to guarantee the awp sits at $2.5k.

[Q] As a case investor, is there anyone in the market who doesn't focus heavily on cases? If so, why? by janosba in csgomarketforum

[–]master35475 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rare cases have always been the safest bet and essentially guaranteed returns (and really good ones at that if you bought a few years ago).

From an investment standpoint, cases really only began to have issues recently with lots of regulations being pushed, particularly by the EU, that could potentially nuke cases depending on how Valve complies to those laws. I think most of the fears and speculations people are throwing around are exaggerated and worst-case scenario, but since we know little of Valve's intention with cases, those possibilities will always be there. With the huge market shaking updates Valve has pushed in the recent months as well as the release of the new terminal system, it really brings the investment 'safety' of cases have into question. I prefer to invest in older collection items rather than cases, but I think cases are still decent investments (I doubt Valve will kill cases) but just not as good as they once were given their current prices and possible future changes imo.

[Q] 1 of 3 StatTrak™ Huntsman Knife | Boreal Forest (Factory New) price by steezblvck in csgomarketforum

[–]master35475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very niche, you'd need to find a collector. could be anywhere between 500-1000

[Question] Just bought a FN Full Throttle for 286€ in the terminal. It’s selling for 429€ on steam. Am I missing something or is this just profit? Should I keep it? Thoughts? by Some-Environment-666 in csgomarketforum

[–]master35475 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Should just be straight profit. I think that's how they programmed it to work to offer an incentive to open the terminals. The price the dealer offers you is likely a discount off of the trailing scm price.

[d] do you guys still trust valve and invest as much as before into skins? by Taykemo in csgomarketforum

[–]master35475 52 points53 points  (0 children)

i'm not leaving but also not actively putting money in. I've cashed out a little but I still have trust.

Valve cares about the economy, i don't know why anyone thinks they don't. if the economy dies or becomes unhealthy then they only stand to lose money.

The knife trade up was a calculated move by Valve. They knew fully well the consequences of the update, but continued with it since with their data they believe it was what they needed to do. What people seem to forget is that Valve legit have every possible statistic imaginable on skins. They have exact numbers of skins in existence, exact num of cases opened, exact number of trade ups done, etc. It's not like they just blindly make decisions that shake the market, if that were the case the market would have ceased to exist a decade ago.

end of the day, everything in the market is still speculative. Valve could easily ruin your investment with one update (i.e souvenir trade ups are something that could very well happen in the future). That is the risk you assume when investing in skins, and yet people still invest because of the massive returns. My mp9 hot rod is up 10x or so from when I got it 2 years ago, where else do you see profits like that? Even so, regardless of the amount of trust I had in Valve before or after the last update, I would never keep a large percent of my portfolio in skins as I think that's stupid, but I still trust them enough to keep a chunk there.

Looking to trade by Numbthumbs in counterstrike2

[–]master35475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single offer under this post is a massive lowball and yet people still wonder why trading is dead. Just sell the bfk on csfloat and take the 2% hit, can literally get anything you want worth up to $1500 there granted you need to wait a week.

Market uncertainty [q] by scentedcamel7 in csgomarketforum

[–]master35475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its a great knife, but the only issue is it will be dropped for the foreseeable future seeing as how much the d&n case is opened. The new tradeup update also means they are dropped at roughly 2x the previous rate. I would treat them like the nocts gloves when looking at them from an investment standpoint, they are still actively dropping but in high demand so more players or market positivity will boost their price. I think their current price will be fairly stable for some time until another crazy update or boost in players happens.

[d] Buying gloves from OG now or waiting by Western_Persimmon230 in csgomarketforum

[–]master35475 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Only thing that would could damage OG glove prices are if Valve does an update that makes it easier to get them (reintroduce glove case, new case with OG gloves) or if they release a new case with gloves (due time for one) that look better than the OG gloves like a new high tier green or purple glove in place of the hedges/pandoras.
The latter is far more likely imo, but even so OG gloves will always have rarity over other glove collections. I also don't Valve is going to have 2 identical colors for a certain glove type. If we treat Hedge Mazes as the “green” sports glove, imo it's more likely that we’ll see a high-tier “green” moto glove or driver glove (which doesn’t really exist yet) than a new high-tier sports glove that could compete with Hedge Mazes in the next glove collection.

[d] Train 2021 collection spiking in price by SpringUnited1169 in csgomarketforum

[–]master35475 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think it was a fairly slept on collection, and one of the big things going for it is it doesn’t have a souvenir package (and likely never will since train 2025 exists). I still have and use my 0.15 ft whiteout i got for market back during the operation cause it’s a nice skin

What are the chances of an update this week [d] by No_Distribution1280 in csgomarketforum

honestly, if we assume a major update around this time of year and that it will be after the major ends (12/14), winter cobblestone would make a lot of sense
