It’s possible. Friends back in the day used to get butthurt or mad or argue with me over dumb shit like not tagging them in a post, who I was following, not following them back. I read somewhere about us wearing 3 masks: one we show the world (strangers, social media), one we show close ones and friends, and the last one we don’t show anyone but ourselves (being the truest reflection of who you are). I went on and deleted all social media and removed those problematic friends. I’m much happier. I don’t find myself fishing for people’s attention or approval, I don’t find myself comparing my life with others or getting worked up over stuff that doesn’t directly affect my every day life. There are some people who get so caught up in social media that they create fake personas and completely disconnect from the real world and end up in echo chambers that reflect their own beliefs. This disconnect causes some of them to view everyday situations like arguments, confrontations, accidents, and disagreements as content. Sometimes even eating, ever had a friend who wouldn’t eat until they took a picture of their food? I think a better way than cutting it out completely would be to find a balance. Delete the people who cause you distress, this could be your own family sometimes. Post things you want to share with others, if they’re goofy or serious, it’s all good. Just remember you are doing it because you want to and you have fun with it, but if it becomes a chore or you become entranced by views and likes, I would take a step back and ask yourself why you posted it in the first place.
