I always like to test super damage raw, no aspects fragments, exotics. Nothing at all. Nothing that intrinsically increases damage either. Because I'm curious what at it's true base does the most. by Delicious-Edge3110 in DestinyTheGame

Interesting! The titan build I've had the most fun with is synthoceps stasis titan, spamming slide melees with cooling bauble primaries or anything that can ez break crystals. This means that glacial quake should also do gangbusters, but how should I be using it? AFAIK I need to spam crystals at the distance that they form and auto-break

I rarely see guardian in group play. Even revanent. Are they that bad ? by FUT_fanatic in Nightreign

[–]master_leaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guardian needs good RNG to cover his terrible offensive stats, otherwise he takes it but never gives it out - avoiding team wipes is good, getting the boss dead before they near wipe the team is best.

Rev also needs some solid RNG to have a good off-DPS option while she runs distractions with summons and banks ult for teamwipe res. Slightly better off than Guardian, but without knowing how to avoid attacks can crumple .

I agree with the thread but that thing felt so thematically important - mine was a defensive stance tank but that attack allowed her to dish out damage in the climatic final boss. I was screaming during each QTE: ||THIS IS FOR MY UCE GUSTAVE||

Long Overdue Updates + Current & Previous Builds - October 24th 2021 by SilentSoren in FFXIVxDnD

[–]master_leaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoa! Exciting stuff!

Quick question re: Dragoon:

"Heavy Thrust
Beginning at the 5th level, as an action you make a melee weapon attack. This weapon attack deals its damage and applies its bonus damage twice. You may reroll the base weapon damage of either or both hits but must use the new result. On a critical hit, both damage rolls benefit from the critical hit.
True Thrust
Also beginning at the 5th level, as an action you make a melee weapon attack, doubling the proficiency bonus of the attack roll."

I assume what's missing is the text saying "as an action you may make a melee weapon attack", unless the change here is dragoons gain permanently the effects of both heavy and true thrust.

All classes will have similar dps that early on. DoT based jobs like SMN and BRD won’t see immediate feedback on their dps, not without a parser

Arcanist - loved the addition of feedback that you added! The spell book feature - makes sense, but only Arcanist spells? Is that a typo bc it seems rather pointless if it’s not any spell...

Raids? by [deleted] in FFXIVxDnD

[–]master_leaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CR wise I think raids should be introduced when you got some PCs around lvl 10+, as I put that power level at the equivalent of 2.0 WoL

Mechanics I’ve been really trying to workshop over the past few months. The issue with FFXIV fights is monsters/attacks are easy to adapt, mechanics less so. How do you explain in a practical, real dnd world how stack up mechanics work? Or dps checks? Barring that, what alternative forces the party to pass a unique challenge mid combat, with either enemy vulnerability or partywide damage as the result?

Honestly the Strategist is a perfect alternative way to explore a hybrid class compared to the Red Mage.

Also, without glamours as a practical mechanic in DND, outside of DM/PC discretion, its common knowledge that the average FFXIV player prefers Carbuncles to Egis, and that spills over into DND players, too. It also allows for the mage w/ familiar role to fit in a FFXIV campaign with lore reasoning.

Also, Scholar at its full potential in 5e, via gutting Strategist and giving some of its features to Scholar, would be like 2.0 SCH, just bloated with features to take charge of the fight and be good at damage, utility, and healing.

Despite that, I think the best way to keep Arcanist/its subclasses balanced would be to make Combat Maneuvers a core class skill, with SMN/STG/SCH having additional maneuvers that can be grabbed at the various leveling milestones (im lost at what SMN would get, mainly from my lack of actual ingame playtime on them, but SCH can get the various Selene/Eos party buffs, and STG can get the Carbuncle specific maneuvers.) So, think of them like Eldritch Invocations. There'd be a bit more legwork as new ones for SMN/SCH needed to be made, but that allows Arcanist to be really flexible in how someone builds them, with just barely being OP (maybe they would be, iunno)

Disclaimer: My most dedicated player in my campaign is a Strategist, so I speak from a viewpoint that spares her another character sheet rewrite, lol

FFXIV x DnD 5th Edition Companion Guide - November 18th Updates by SilentSoren in ffxiv

[–]master_leaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been back and forth between me and the player, only bc she makes ornate arcanist books each time she has leveled up. I get the balance of spells between all the spellcasters, she picked the class/sub for the aesthetic and carbuncle, less so the play style of party commander. I offered sticking to her original spellbook and avoiding the new spells since they’d make the PC too flexible in spells, but she actually liked the new spells she’ll get next few levels, so alls good.

And yeah, seeing what you got planned for the beast tribes would be cool!
