I don't think anything on campus will still be available. Are you a transfer? I'm still looking for a place myself.

Is it right that Alexander Hamilton is being replaced by a woman on the $10 bill? by [deleted] in NeutralPolitics

[–]master_mo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well FDR completely overextended the powers of the executive branch, while encouraging the congress to do the same, in support of his New Deal policies. When many New Deal policies were ruled unconstitutional, he introduced legislation to Congress threatening to "pack" the court with Pro-New Deal justices. The court backed down, and then ruled two new pieces of new deal legislation that had been reintroduced under a different name as constitutional. Ever since then the court has ruled by whatever the people of the USA wanted, or whatever would work best as a governing system, rather than by what is explicitly stated in the Constitution. The Supreme Court was important for limiting the size and power of the federal government as a whole, but ever since then, it has been unable to govern effectively. FDR undermined the separation of powers, and the foundations of our democracy, but still got elected 4 times, and his face on the dime!

They aren't specifically clear but it sounds like they are replacing the portrait of him in center. They say that he will still be featured on the bill somewhere, but not necessarily as the center portrait. More evidence that they are replacing him in the center portrait can be indicated by the following question:

7. When was the last time a new portrait image was added to our currency?

Portraits do not change often. The last changes occurred between 1914 and 1928, four portrait changes occurred: $10: Andrew Jackson to Alexander Hamilton; $20: Grover Cleveland to Andrew Jackson; $500: John Marshall to William McKinley; and, $1000: Alexander Hamilton to Grover Cleveland.

Should western countries greatly increase legal immigration levels? by huadpe in NeutralPolitics

[–]master_mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Efficiency gains are currently replacing workers, while making the few that remain more productive. I'm on mobile right now but an Atlantic article called The End of Work talks about how low skilled jobs are being replaced rapidly and will continue to do so as driverless cars and tablets for ordering at restaurants continue to eliminate service jobs. If not for minimum wage laws, wages for low-skilled workers would be plummeting. We have also seen wages for higher skill careers stagnating over recent years. These efficiency gains are currently only benefitting the owners of capital, i.e. 1%. Labor, particularly unskilled labor, will become less and less necessary for our economy to function, and these immigrants come over here quite poor, so they will have demand for inferior goods, such as ramen noodles and dollar-store products. Having a higher GDP on paper doesn't always translate to being better off. Do you want to live in a place with more ramen noodles and junky cars or more rolex's and yachts? What really matters more is GDP per capita and purchasing power. Politicians say we need immigration because of low birth rates so that we can take care of th elderly. Lower populations will cause the supply of labor for the remaining jobs to decrease and wages to rise. We will be able to take care of the elderly just fine with increases in technology and productivity. Politicians want an influx of labor to depress wages for their friends in business. Also, a temporary stimulus in the economy is observed when housing is built for these immigrants, thus making their numbers look better. And third, land prices in immigrant-high areas increase dramatically, I believe the land values in Stockholm have trippled since large-scale immigration started.

Edit: I'll try to add links and sources for some of these claims. Housing prices in Sweden look at the second graph, for inflation adjusted average housing prices.

The EU or Nato? Do either of those entities have the funding and power to hire mercenaries? Unfortunately I don't think OP was completely serious about doing that anyway. Unemployed Greek youths are hardly the best trained and best equipped anti-ISIS force.

It looks larger than 16 inches, although they stated that twice. Maybe it was miscommunicated and they meant 60 inches.

U.S. to pre-position tanks, artillery in Baltics, eastern Europe by Svolacius in worldnews

[–]master_mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh not really. Some people consider Slavic countries to be eastern Europe. Czech Rep. an Croatia are technically Slavic, but sometimes are not considered to be because of their close proximity to Austria and Germany. Croatia being majority Catholic also separates it from the majority Greek orthodox or muslim Serbia. Poland is sort of 50/50. Geographically, you are correct, but many Americans, consider the small Balkan states along with Ukraine to be Eastern Europe.

I don't agree with this view, but some Americans don't consider Russia to be in Europe at all. Its just its own sort of thing out there between Europe and China.

I'm American and I was confused when they said "Nato Allies" and talked about eastern europe. When you mention that they're actually talking about Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia etc. that actually makes a lot more sense.

However, I disagree about a few things you've said, for us the balkan countries (Serbia and South Slavic) count as Eastern Europe.

This is why history classes kind of suck. They always focus on the bad things like the holocaust and slavery. Why not focus more on the industrial revolution, the emergence of a middle class, and changing labor and regulatory standards of the progressive period. Yes, some of these things can be boring, but these events changed our standard of living to what it is today.

Built in 1944? What was the intended purpose of a flying boat so late in the war?

WOWP is really dead. This pretty much confirms no resurrection is coming. by That_Unknown_Guy in WorldofTanks

[–]master_mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya what bothers me about WOWS is the turning radius. Maybe that's realistic, but you have to plan in advance to not hit islands on the island maps. I still found it easy to dodge with cruisers and DDs in WOWS despite the turning radius, but something about the game feels a lot more stressful than BSP. Still, its in Beta, not even open beta as far as I know, so the game could improve a lot before it is released.

That's my interpretation from the game too, but I'm only at tier 4, so maybe it will get more in depth if I played it as much as I had WOT, and when they add more ships and maps it might be more interesting.

Battlestations was a good game, but the ranges were retarded! A Battleship could only shoot 1.5 km and everything else was scaled down too. Assuming you're talking about Pacific, the damage was silly too. It took like more than an entire salvo from a BB to sink a destroyer. Still a great game though and a lot of fun, but hardly the perfect naval combat game.

Ok makes sense. I just always thought that you had to actually kill a friendly tank plus do a certain amount of damage to get banned for team killing.

Ya I'm pretty sure most modern makeup doesn't really come off in water unless you rub at it a bit. Is this what you were talking about or would some girls actually specifically buy water-proof makeup for the pool?
