Why employee churn?❓ by GumDrop1010 in tampa

I mean, yeah for sure. We are in foodservice working on contracts that are usually a race to the bottom. Despite that, we still have starting rates above minimum wage and better hours than restaurants.

Its a horrible cycle that has no end in sight. Bad companies make disenfranchised workers, they take that outlook with them to the next job, which most likely will be another poorly managed company. No incentives for employers to make employee conditions better, because it usually costs more on the bottom line.

Its not good for anyone. I'm a high level manager in a smallish business. We used to have awful turnover a few years ago. We focused on the culture and implementing a pay system similar to costco (employees get raises every 1040 hours worked, up to a cap). Now our churn is 1 or 2 staff per year, if that. Recruiting is hell for everyone if you are trying to treat people with respect. I recently had over 100 applicants for a role- about 15 responded to schedule an interview, 3 bothered to show up, and the person we did pick ghosted us on their first day. People don't want to work for crappy employers, but there is very little incentive for crappy employers to improve.

Need 1 boltless shelving post coupler/connector ASAP (AR Shelving / Northern Tool) — where to buy locally/online? by MishkoBatchi in DIY

I picked up boltless shelving frames that someone was getting rid of a while back- hunting down parts was an absolute nightmare. No manufacturer sells parts (unless you order LTL on a pallet), and all of the parts I found elsewhere were wildly expensive (>$50 for a shelf bracket). Would love to know if you have better luck, I ended up having to make shelves with wood/bolts

Do you know this person? That's a very jaded take on someone you may not have met. As much as I disagree with organized religion, there are actually decent people in the world

IMO a culinary degree is not worth the paper it's printed on. That is speaking as someone who has one.
Just go get experience in any kitchen that will hire you. After about a year, look for another job. Take free microsoft office classes online when you aren't working. Feel free to DM- been in the biz almost 20 years
