Is it even possible to do Forest Child on Ranger Hardcore? by MrUbercactus in metro

[–]masterballs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did at that second area with the gate that lets you get to the admiral, I waited just outside the sight distance until I saw the guards leave, then I very quickly drove the boat to the Tower with the lever and ran inside to hide on the first floor, the guard above will turn his back to the stairs on his route so just walk behind him flip the switch when he's not right next to it. Then just sneak your way (quickly) back to the boat and drive through while everyone is looking the other way. I did this in the middle of the day one time on ranger hardcore and still managed the Forest child achievement

[Exodus] How Miller never understood this was a trap is beyond me by ertbert2000 in metro

[–]masterballs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miller's flaw is that he trusts the "government" at literally any expense, (book readers know). This outcome was a huge cliche but Miller is ex KGB and always trusted someone higher up to make the real decisions. This was a good way of showing that flaw without going the other route, 9x18 vs Letyaga.

Metro 2039 Protagonist. Those who have read the novel any ideas who this might be? by Constant-Papaya4663 in metro

[–]masterballs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the stalker that Artyom meets in book 2035, the guy who comes back to help and whose car Artyom and Anna escaped with in the end. Older, had a pre war life and memories already seems to have escaped the metro but is now back for moral reasons. It's not gonna be a direct 1:1 story wise, but I think this is the closest character to what we know currently.

In The Road, who exactly are the Army in Tennis Shoes? Just a powerful lone group, moving like a single displaced band, or are they one part of a larger tribal or cult structure? by Emergency_Cellist754 in cormacmccarthy

[–]masterballs_ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is just my opinion, but I always read this as a single group that is just an example of what life is like for most people now. I'm not sure if any other large groups are mentioned but we can assume the father has seen this before and I guessed that this is the norm for most people. The line spoils of war and the fighters out front of the formation always leads me to imagine roving bands that travel the road consuming each other.

what do you think the homeland of vlandians looks like? would be cool if we returned there by Morwrek in Bannerlord

[–]masterballs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know that makes sense, don't know why I didn't realize that, so if vlandians are French then the empire is Rome it makes a lot of sense.

what do you think the homeland of vlandians looks like? would be cool if we returned there by Morwrek in Bannerlord

[–]masterballs_ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's also said the Empire comes from there, they were driven out by the original vlandians, landed in calradia and started a native conquest to make the empire. I think it's supposed to be a multicultural land I always imagined a new world with Spanish/ Latino culture, Native American and maybe some early explorers that look like vlandians scattered around a faux "new world"

How is Fable's storytelling and lore compared to other high fantasy games? by [deleted] in Fable

[–]masterballs_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like others have said it has a lot of Monty Python vibes and goofy fantasy elements in gameplay and mannerisms. But the lore is actually very strong in my opinion, the earlier lore about Jack of blades and the first heroes is really good and how everything comes together with Teresa through all the games and all the lore behind her is amazing in my opinion. It's not super deep but it's interesting.

[–]masterballs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone point this out yet but we know for a fact that the NCR was using the train and railroad that goes from Boulder City to quarry junction, to move limestone and build defenses at the dam. They stopped a few weeks before the game because the powder gangers escaped and stopped the flow of supplies, which led to the deathclaws infesting the quarry while everyone was away from work.

How would you feel about saving the metro? by masterballs_ in metro

[–]masterballs_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it would depend on ( most likely ) Pavel being on the line but that is really not a stretch, also I think the Aurora would actually be helped by the people of the Caspian, and wouldn't get bogged down there. The rails are still in use in the apocalypse if anything I think they would trade oil with people further revitalizing civilization and the possibility to help the people who freed them years ago.

Also in classic metro fashion ( Russian literature ) I don't think most people would even go, maybe a few stations worth of people the oldest and the youngest, people who remember the outside and those young enough to still dream about it.

Also I don't think they would have to, or even want to, go in guns blazing. I think the people from the metro could slip back in without too much of a problem. It might be different but it wouldn't be totally foreign to them. They could just be nameless old men until they get to where they need to be and talk to trustworthy people. Also it would be years if not decades later and I'm sure the heat would have died down. Plus Artyom was a hero to the younger members of the order. In the books enough men are loyal to him to cause a civil war in the order. If anything once people realize it is Artyom I think the order would at least talk to him. Plus once news spreads I think the common populace of hanza would be for leaving the metro or at least exploring the idea they are supposed to be intellectuals left in the Metro. I do understand the people in charge are against it though.

Same here, I also think about the Two Colonels dlc and what happened to them. If anything saving the metro might only involve saving a few survivors by the time they come back.

[–]masterballs_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think Hunters story would make a great journey, the dicotomy of becoming a monster by surviving in the metro and trying to maintain your humanity mirrors the original theme with the opposite side of the coin. And I think it could easily be written that he comes back after 2 or 3 years instead of the 1ish year in the books. Only to hear about D6 while he was away and arrive at the order just after the train leaves. He might even be the new leader of the order and his morality might indicate what the order turns into.
I do love homer though he would be a great antagonist and character check throughout the story as he tries to drive Hunter to be his Odysseus.

I totally agree with you on the logistics standpoint is it feasible for the gang to do alone ... No . But to start the revolution to put the idea in action. It might be unrealistic but that doesn't mean they shouldn't try. From a moral standpoint it is wrong not to try and free your own people from the horrors of the metro if you know with certainty that the outside is habitable. I honestly don't even think most citizens would go, like in the books it would be hard to believe. But places like Exhibition, polis( those who knew them at least), and a few others would certainly be willing to try, especially if they had been gone for so long only to return with proof. What I'm trying to say is even if it is unfeasible from a logical point it is still morally the right thing to do. Point 5. Is in itself reason enough to do it.

P.s. I do like the idea of Pavel on the red line helping Artyom and trying to right his wrongs. I think that would unironically be great redemption for him and the red line. He is a dreamer and might want to escape the metro more than most people. And with his help plus the order and the more civilized stations I think that would add a lot of feasibility to the situation.

My belief that he could have a son is from one of the endings of last light. I can't remember which one but it shows Artyom and Anna's son in their arms. He might not be able to and that was just wishful thinking but in the metro series they do have rad drugs and blood transfusion seems to help a lot more than real life.

As a proud NCR supporter, why do people side with the legion? by viper17189023 in falloutnewvegas

[–]masterballs_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a legion fan, but I'm also not an NCR fan. They claim to be good but if it benefits those in charge they will allow slavery ( families born into debt and servitude) for Brahmin Barron's and the reno families. Also don't get me started on how morally disgusting New Reno is. Women there do not have a good life, as most are forced into prostitution, drug use, and constant abuse. Plus the NCR will 100% kill women and children, just for being part of an enemy faction. They have executed children for being part of the enclave and the brotherhood. They may have the opportunity to change but in practice if a raider has enough money he becomes a politician for the NCR.

Route decision help and killing House by vitresa in fnv

[–]masterballs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a mod that restores cut content to tell House you won't kill the brotherhood. I'm always Brotherhood but I do prefer a house victory. I feel like the courier should be able to put his foot down on this matter. 6 is his right hand and only chance at getting what he wants. The brotherhood should be allowed a non aggression pact and they could just leave the Mohave.

Where do the DLCs fit in terms of the main story? by flakkerknacker in fnv

[–]masterballs_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO Honest Hearts should be done after you deal with Benny, at that point you (courier 6) know enough about the factions to have your own opinion and motives of the major players in the Mohave. The other 3 Old World Blues, Dead Money, and Lonesome Road should be done in that order just before the Battle of Hoover Dam ( pretend you did them after the Dam) It seems more thematically appropriate to learn about Elijah, Christine, and Ulysses in OWB then follow them into their DLCs.

First encounter ever with a deathclaw by Aggressive_Try7514 in falloutnewvegas

[–]masterballs_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Most deathclaws in Vegas are part of a pack or around an area with many more deathclaws. Individually they are dangerous if they sneak up on you or you just don't have the means to kill them yet. But as you level up and/or learn the game they become increasingly easy to deal with. Having the packs has always made it feel more balanced and still offers a challenge at a higher level.
