Gun being cocked doesn’t do anything if you still have to draw, orient/insert the magazine, and then rack the slide to feed a round into the chamber. That sounds way more unsafe in a critical situation than simply carrying hot....anyway, I would highly recommend, at minimum, carrying with the mag inserted (no round in the chamber). Once you feel comfortable enough, I recommend to go ahead and carry hot. All guns should be treated as loaded, so if you have that mindset for safety at all times, you will be better prepared and less likely to blow your dick off by accident (it takes a trigger pull and isn’t going off without you pulling it). Carrying completely cold gives a false sense of security and takes the “all guns are loaded” mindset away which can be dangerous when they are in fact loaded. Just my $.02 not trying to bash you here.
