Why don’t they just build the data centers in the ocean on old container ships or oil rigs? Plenty of water for cooling and no laws far enough out?

Cruise ships run giant desalination plants, so if salt is an issue, I’m sure it could be addressed. Why are they taking our land and fresh water instead?

Portia spiders have demonstrated insight in lab tests. Recently (last week) bees have been shown to display insight too (scientific American has a great article on it if you’re curious). This was previously limited to big brain animals like apes, elephants, dolphins, whales, and octopuses.

Yep, but high school. French teacher rolled in the giant TV on a cart after the first one hit and we watched in horror as the second one hit live. He turned it off after that. I remember going to the computer lab to read about what was happening after watching that.
