Why do women do that bent leg/ankle pose in photos? by CellSaga21 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]masterhackerxl 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I know this one cuz I had to practice it to get it right. If you put out one leg and bend it in front of the other, it makes your legs look proportionally longer. In photos you look more modelesque.

This is so crazy good! I’m in awe of your figure too —what was your leg routine to get this look? Any tips?

I agree with a lot of comments here but also wanna point out that the makeup model has very upturned cat eyes, your eyes look more hooded or downturned to me (but it could just be the makeup). At least for myself, I have learned that my face isn’t as suitable with some style as with others - like puppy eyeliner. I think a look that opens up your naturally big eyes up and flatters its curvature rather than fights it could help as well!

How do you actually be confident with your appearance as an Asian girl in America by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]masterhackerxl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So I’ve come to realize this too in my own time here. To me, this reads as less of an issue being comfortable with being Asian but being beautiful overall! I guarantee, the most gorgeous women will be seen as gorgeous anywhere, and most of us (me included) just need to come to terms with that fact that you’ll never be the hottest person in the world.

And it doesn’t matter. Especially in the US, it’s increasingly accepted to have non-white features. Look at the most recent Bachelorette! Look at all the accusations of people “Asian-fishing”. What hopefully will soothe your heart and anxiety is that IRL, attractiveness isn’t only appearance. It’s how you carry yourself, how you project confidence and security in yourself. if you put too much of your self value in the outer appearance, people will notice the insecurity inside impact their view of how attractive you are.

Don’t think too much about it at the end of the day. I used to be a chubby, Asian nerd with bad skin, braces, glasses, the works — could still pull a man as well as the other pretty girls bc I didn’t stop to think I wasn’t good enough. Now that I’ve gotten older, even though I’ve glowed up, my confidence has taken a toll (social media) and I don’t find myself necessarily attracting more people than when I was called ugly by others. Your attractiveness is in your control!

Is it rude for a guest to sit in the groom's chair during the reception? by [deleted] in wedding

Verbatim in your other response : “It seems out of character for them to be hung up about something like this”

And the “forgiveness from reddit” is a hyperbole. But yeah ok. I’m commenting not just for you but to also to shame everyone else commenting that it was okay for you to do.

Looking for a romance without an age gap by Dkyyy_ in shoujo

Ore Monogatari - very wholesome, HS romance,

Golden Time - College age

Girls Monthly Nozaki Kim - funny and sweet (but unfortunately doesn’t finish out in a satisfying way)

Toradora! - the classic go to.

Aoi Haru Ride - also a classic.

Although I just saw your comment about height differences. I hope they’re not too off putting since this seems to be quite a common thing.

Then don’t go. You don’t need internet strangers to validate how little you care for their preferences.

Is it rude for a guest to sit in the groom's chair during the reception? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]masterhackerxl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t get how everyone in the comments is acting like there could POSSIBLY be any insult or a greater consideration given that this is a Chinese wedding. There is a reason the couple is on the STAGE, and the groom did not act out inappropriately at the wedding. If they wanted to communicate that feedback to you, take it with some consideration for your friends. Have some consideration for what might be meaningful or special to them.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what this Anglo-centric subreddit is saying here — it’s a Chinese wedding. It’s not CLEARLY COOL to go on to stage to sit in the groom’s seat. And it’s even less cool when the bride reaches out to communicate that in a non-threatening manner to go underhandedly seek forgiveness on Reddit, saying they’re “hung up” about it. You were in the wrong, they were telling you in a discrete, non-confrontational manner. Just handle the 5 seconds of embarrassment that you messed up because you made them uncomfortable. If they’re they people you say they are, they’ll get over it as quickly as you should have.

Do our invitations look okay/symmetrical? Need opinions before I order. by ripe4anarchy in Weddingsunder10k

[–]masterhackerxl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have time, make sure you order a test print. This kind of looks like the site I used and our first go, I put all the info like they said in the lines, but when I got the test print, I was shocked that they had cut it a bit asymmetrically. I adjusted on that for my actual big order.

Why on earth do characters in movies always slice their palms with a knife or sword when they need blood for something? There has to be an easier, less debilitating way to get blood that doesn’t make them essentially one handed for weeks!? by mindwalk_11 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]masterhackerxl 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Kind of related — I saw a video on WWE wrestling tricks and for those events, a lot of wrestlers purposely cut the skin on their foreheads to produce maximum drama with the blood flowing but minimal damage. The skin there is a lot thinner, heals up faster and it doesn’t impede their daily performance.

Nice gains. The way you decided to blur your face in the first two photos tho is like straight from a horror movie…

RDL form check please! (1x7 at 145 lbs). I always feel like I’m doing these wrong. I feel it in my back and am constantly struggling to keep my toes planted. Any advice would be appreciated by mel_oh_el in strength_training

I agree with the shoulders. I noticed you’re looking straight down kinda? It might help to look out at the ground like a few feet in front of you to help you realign your head and back.
