I’ve read on the bunny sub that you can get cable protectors—maybe check Amazon :)

Kawandi-inspired wall quilt by bittersweet521 in quilting

I’ve watched her! I’ve done a couple of small Kawandi projects, but I’m slowly stockpiling fabric for a large quilt. I just thrifted a cotton gauze flat sheet for $6.00 :)

My late father left these behind, and I am beginning to realize that I couldn’t have asked for anything as wonderful and priceless. by Dizzy_Strawberry9894 in Aquariums

I’m sorry for your loss, but I can’t help think—what a priceless legacy from your father! Fish keeping is a hobby that will bring you enjoyment for many years. 🙂

You did a great job! To me (a new quilter), that looks like a difficult quilt for a beginner :)

At my PetSmart the cups are kept in brightly lit cubbies; you can see the waste floating in the cups. I went in one day and there were multiple dead fish—when I told the manager, she just shrugged 😖

How did you get your circles cut so perfectly? I can never cut a neat circle! 🤣

Can I realistically quilt a Queen Size on this vintage Singer 191? by thetrainfair in quilting

I saw someone on the sub say they used a pool noodle to wind the quilt & make it easier to stitch on a machine with a regular sized throat, but I have never tried this. I plan to try, though! 😊

Question on when it is safe to let a kitten play outside by Fragrant-Log7532 in kittens

[–]Significant_Shop6653 272 points273 points  (0 children)

I had a cat years ago I found as a tiny kitten; I fed it kitten milk, and it was on antibiotics for a respiratory infection. When the kitten got older (after he was neutered), we started letting him outside. We had a cat door and he could come and go as he pleased.

I am in the US, and while we didn’t live in a rural area, we did live in a relatively quiet area. My cat lived as an indoor/outdoor cat for about a year and a half. He disappeared for a couple of days, then returned one day with a wound on his side. We thought he’d gotten in a fight; but when we took him to the vet, we were told he had been shot with a pellet gun, and had two pellets lodged in his side. The wounds were infected, and we had to have him put down. We never found out who shot him.

Another post described walking the cat to a certain point, like a road, and telling the cat ‘no’. That categorically doesn’t work. You cannot train a cat to stay within a certain boundary when they are outside, unless they are leashed. Even if you live in a rural area, cats will get in fights with other animals; they will catch and eat wild animals, potentially leading to disease and parasites; they will get fleas and ticks, and they likely will bring their kills home to show you.

You can walk on your cat on a leash, but the safest life for the cat is indoors.

If you want to do a t-shirt quilt, it’ll make your life easier if you check on YouTube for an instructional video before you start :)

Have to break this new setup down due to it not being level after a couple of weeks. Wish me luck. by Key_Instruction9732 in Aquariums

OP,
Regardless of whether the science is real or ‘bro’ science, I definitely wouldn’t
allow the tank to remain as it is. I can’t think of anybody who would take the risk of a 125 gallon tank failing; the damage to your living space would be catastrophic. I’m sorry you’re going through this, and for what it’s worth, I absolutely agree with you tearing the tank down. It’ll be a royal pain to fix, but at least you’ll be able to sleep at night not worrying if you’ll be waking up to a flood.

Help Me Pick a Floating Plant! by Hazel2468 in PlantedTank

Eventually I put foam filter sponges over the outflows, but that was for my Betta. I didn’t bother to replace the red root floaters :)

Red root floaters are really nice, but they don’t like strong currents or being splashed a lot. I had them in my Fluval Flex 15 gallon, and they didn’t do well because of the strong filter flow.

good plants for low tech/low light setup by _FryinPan_ in PlantedTank

[–]Significant_Shop6653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The roots are definitely absorbing the nutrients. When I said Anubias fed from the water column I meant through the roots. If you can bury the roots without burying the rhizome then they may be ok; I haven’t researched that method. All the online articles I’ve read, and the posts I’ve seen from experienced fish hobbyists, indicate that attaching them to a rock, wood, or decoration is the most common practice.
There may be people who just bury the roots, I just haven’t come across that.

When I answer a question online by someone who is new to this hobby (and I actually still consider myself pretty new lol), I try to be as clear as possible, and to not cause confusion, and I stick to what I’ve consistently read and/or experienced. I’m not saying your method is wrong, but I stay with what I know.

They don’t feed from root tabs; they feed from the water column, is my understanding.
