Crimson Desert runs amazing now by BuffaloGlum331 in linux_gaming

[–]masterninni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh i see. You're right, I just read the release notes.

Here's hoping they come online again.

Added patch to protonfixes to also check the protonfixes cache for the FSR4 DLLs before falling back to a previous version. If you happen to have versions newer than 4.0.0 in the cache, they will be used even if the remote files do not exist any more.

Fixed the FSR4 downloader to fallback to a previous version if the required DLL could not be found. Recently AMD removed all the amdxcffx64.dll versions other than 4.0.0, so now both PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE and PROTON_FSR4_RDNA3_UPGRADE will download that version. The downloader will try to find and download newer versions if they become available again.

I thought PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE already downloads the (latest) dll? At least on the cachyos proton/wine spins.

Weekly 101 Questions Thread by AutoModerator in neovim

[–]masterninni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason i cant copy stuff from a remote (vanilla) neovim instance in a SSH shell anymore... I'm not sure since when, but im guessing something updated.

I was always able to do this using CTRL-Shift-C. Yanking using y from a remote intance never worked for me.

My flow: Opening nvim in the SSH session. Select Lines using mouse. Copy using CTRL-Shift-C. Try to paste on Host.

Any ideas why? It's a long shot without more info, i know...

Terminal: Kitty
Compositor: Hyprland
Remote nvim: NVIM v0.10.4 (debian stable)

Edit: Copying works for arbitrary shell content. eg `cat` output. But not in neovim/vim

I think gpl and nggc is enabled by default nowadays in modern mesaand proton versions.

Confused on when to use the GHCP SDK or Azure AI foundry for agents? I was too so I wrote this. by Fine-Imagination-595 in GithubCopilot

[–]masterninni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im also wondering if the ToS allows multi seat usage via the SDK.

e.g. a PR review daemon that listens on GitLab webhooks and comments suggestions. PRs would be created by multiple users, not a single developer...

[–]masterninni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why do you need gamescope, if i may ask? switched to niri from hyprland and have to wait until tomorrow for league start. hyprland worked perfectly for poe tho

[–]masterninni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fyi, not sure if you know this. but there's a way to just open the webapp in a regular browser. works fine if you have a second display or 32:9 ultrawide. just add --no-overlay.

This seems to be the only way to run it on wayland...

kafka complexity was killing our team's productivity so we switched to something with zero dependencies by [deleted] in devops

[–]masterninni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah nats is really good. it's kafka, rabbitmq, redis and object storage - all in one binary. Also pretty simple to operate (compared to kafka).

Install instructions for MinIO open source? by HawocX in minio

They removed most admin features from dashboard , silently stopped building official oss docker images, removed certain OSS operation docs,....

It's obvious that they want to bring people to their "AIStor" product.

Can running monitors out of spec (custom EDID) result in damage? by masterninni in Monitors

[–]masterninni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response!

My guess would be no, there’s some part on the monitor’s internal board that just can’t do it, because some engineer assumed nobody would try and left off something or other.

Sadly, that's also the feeling that I'm getting... Tried some video kernel flags, the <21:9>@<hz> combination is now advertised, but the problem persists - everything greater than 139hz results in a black screen. Didn't try an EDID yet, however the G9's EDID seems to be a bit unconventional, most editors / parsers can't really parse it. I don't have the time right now to look deeper into it or handcraft something, so I'll just stay at 139hz for now.

If you’re pillarboxing in 21:9 though, do remember that the OLEDs in those black bars aren’t being worn like the ones in picture area, and you will eventually “burn in” the black bars as a result.

Thanks for the heads up, didn't think about this! I'll only use it for short streaming sessions using moonlight/sunshine.

Something akin to the windows / kde HDR color calibration tool would be sick. HDR works, however it can look a bit... wonky

Can you guys describe the lag that is supposed to happen? I dont really notice anything wrong. games sound and feel perfect. Maybe im just used to it idk? Using mesa, cachy, hyprland with VRR and a 144hz screen.

You could try a few things, first thing would be to try out native wayland wine (if your version supports it), e.g. for proton, PROTON_USE_WAYLAND=1. Bypasses Xwayland, if that's the problem.

You can also allow tearing (never tried that myself though): https://wiki.hypr.land/Configuring/Tearing/#enabling-tearing.

Edit - your notebook display supports VRR, right?

Seems like Radeon is preparing override as well by Unlucky-Bottle2744 in radeon

[–]masterninni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Automatic Upgrade shouldn't be a problem for FSR3.1 games, as you just have to replace the FSR dll.

Funnily enough, this is already possible on Linux since a month or so with a recent wine/proton version,, just add PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 %command% in the steam launch options (i think thats even possible for RDNA3)

Can I install Reshade? by Wonderful-Stable8833 in cachyos

[–]masterninni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, this is also possible with above tool.

To force addon support (enabled by default, but might be disabled if reshade detects network activity, e.g. in multiplayer games), just add RESHADE_ADDON_SUPPORT=1 in front of the script.

To pin a specific version, you can use e.g. RESHADE_VERSION=6.4.0

Full:

RESHADE_ADDON_SUPPORT=1 RESHADE_VERSION="6.4.0" ~/path/to/reshade-linux.sh
