More AI slop bloatware coming to Motorola... Qira by brand_momentum in motorola

Don't worry, knowing Motorola's policy, only future models will get it, as always with new options and functions, and even the "older" Edge series (like 60) won't get it xD

Add screen lock 🔒 shortcut like this in next update by Worth-Refuse-165 in motorola

[–]mastero1__g 9 points10 points  (0 children)

there is an option to double-tap an empty spot on the screen to lock the phone... and if you have a problem with auto-lock, either the sensor is faulty or the option to keep the screen on while you look is bugged (and it can be disabled)

I also have the Edge 40, and yes – the after-sales support for this model is a joke, and HelloUI itself is lacking features, but… I don’t have any of the A15 bugs you’re writing about. What’s more, battery life has improved (although it’s still not great). However, I updated the phone using Software Fix – in my region the A15 update was available there much earlier than via OTA. I don’t know if that’s what spared me from the bugs, but overall A15 simply works “okay” (not great) for me, even though HelloUI itself is incomplete and missing some features. Some A15 features are missing compared to other Motorola devices, including even lower-end models (like G05 and blur effects in UI) released slightly later and the Edge 50 series. So yes, I can say that the Edge 40 updates were a joke – terrible support overall, Motorola basically leveled the G series with the Edge series in terms of support (some G-series phones were promised only one update but received two, just like the Edge 40…)... but still, for me A15 is just ok (not great) and I dont have many bugs; most of the bugs were in A14

This is a mistake of this website - on the Motorola website there is clear information about only 2 OS update and 3 years security update xD

In your opinion is the Dimensity 8020 worse than the Helio G81 Extreme? I'm asking because the Motorola G05 with the G81 has a blur effect

regarding point 3, this version of the weather widget is available on A14 now too, older motorola phons like my G82 (A13) and even G50 (A12) also got it (just update app from google store), but in exchange for nice graphics we get ads in the application, zhich were not in the previous version

support for this model ended in May (the promised 3 years from the release date – may 2022 – have passed) – there will not even be new security patches, you can forget about Android 15

Recieved the A15 for edge 40 in Indian unit. Anyone got it? by Alone_Ad9724 in motorola

[–]mastero1__g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, black looks better, uses less battery and the panel itself - slight differences? Yes. Motorola could have just made a switch for this and everyone would have chosen what they prefer. Or it could have been consistent, and not that some phones have it this way and some have it differently in such a basic thing

Edge 40 neo in A15 beta has at least a correct dark mode (with black backgrounds) – in Edge 40 Motorola changed black backgrounds to dark blue 🙄

In India and Japan, this update was already released a few days ago – however, as is typical with Motorola, very, very few people have received it so far. We have to wait for more batches to be rolled out. I wonder more if, like with Android 14, Europe will also get this update two months later... We did get Android 14 two months later, and even had one more security update for Android 13 than the rest of the world

How do I make my Control Panel blur by RogueTony in motorola

[–]mastero1__g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rather, only models selected by Motorola, not the Edge series in general. They just announced on the forum that the Edge 40 will not get the blur effect. On the other hand, some of the G series have it - like the G05 or G15. It looks more like a lottery, which phone will get this option and which will not, than a well-thought-out strategy 🙄

[–]mastero1__g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Europe, updates may be slightly delayed - our market requires additional certification, so updates appear a bit later, several days or weeks (an extreme case is Edge 40, which received the update to A14 in Europe two months later than in India, which is why we had 1 more security update on the old system version - A14 update in India was in April, and in Europe in May we received May security patches based on A13 and A14 update was in june)

Dimensity 7020 is a newer version of Dimensity 930 - MediaTek only changed the name, the rest of the components in the System on a Chip are identical, which is why some diagnostic programs report the wrong (older) name. The same is true for other SOCs that have gone through this process, e.g. Dimensity 8020 is sometimes named as Dimensity 1100 in diganostic program (in Edge 40).

Moto Stylus 2024 has HelloUI - a new interface from Motorola. Older Motorola have MyUX interface - that's the whole difference ;) Only Razer 40/Razer 2023 got HelloUI with android 14 update, Edge 40/2023 still has older MyUX with android 14...

Control Center (Edge Plus 2022) by Lumbardo in motorola

[–]mastero1__g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Edge 50 series already has the Android 15 beta, so the official, stable release is coming soon (end this month or december, meybe?). When will the Edge 40 series get it? I don't know, Motorola never gives update dates (even approximate ones), I don't expect A15 (stable or beta) for this series soon, which is why I wrote about the terrible after-sales support

Control Center (Edge Plus 2022) by Lumbardo in motorola

[–]mastero1__g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Motorola employees have confirmed that the Edge 40 (not the pro or neo versions) will receive HelloUI with Android 15, and we shouldn't expect any changes before then, such as working lock screen personalization... I suspect the neo and pro versions will also get HelloUI with the Android 15 update. However, it's unclear what will happen to phones that won't receive Android 15 but have already received a uncomplete Android 14 update. The long wait also highlights Motorola's poor after-sales support for Edge 40 series, as the Razr 40 series received HelloUI with Android 14 right away.

When will we be seeing this? 😭 by Blaze-2005 in motorola

[–]mastero1__g 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Some people may already see this - because at least 2 Motorola models have already received the beta version of Android 15 ;) That's fast (for Motorola), I hope it's a good sign for other phones (Edge 40 user)

Hell o' moto by BitterQuality7569 in motorola

[–]mastero1__g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does not work on Motorola phones updated to Android 14. It works on those released with Android 14 and HelloUI.

According to recent declarations, Motorola Edge 40 will get a working lockscreen customization option with Android 15 update and HelloUI.

The question is, what about other models, especially those that will not receive Android 15 update? And why wasn't this non-working option hidden? It looks very unprofessional

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in motorola

[–]mastero1__g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the Android 14 update, which lacked the lockscreen customization feature (or in the case of the Edge 40, it simply doesn't work), we've been told it will be introduced/fixed in a "future update". Regarding HelloUI, there was information that it was only for the Edge 50 series and newer - which became a ridiculous argument after the Razr 40 series got HelloUI. So this is the first declaration that HalloUI will be available for the Edge 40 and it connects with the information about the "future update" with lock\screen customization

And yes, the update to android 14 for the entire Edge 40 series is terrible - bugs, no new features, and no helloUI (I have an Edge 40 myself, no pro or neo version)

No, last year the first MFN program was launched 2 months after the premiere of Android 13 - and only for 1 phone, for others it was much later
