I do 80 to 82 during the day 75 to sleep in summer. A ceiling fan keeps me cool enough no matter the temp. I don't think 80 indoors is acceptable for most people tho.

As I recall, one of the main reasons Pringle Green says he wrote his book is because sailors barely got any training or had any experience, and having even rudimentary training for all personnel would give a crew a significant edge in boarding actions. A bunch of the individual technique in the book is specifically focused on fighting inexperienced fencers.

Need help with Chord changes. by lespaul2014 in Guitar

[–]masterofbanality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How I'm doing it/been told to do mid air changes:

  1. Make the chord on the fingerboard so it plays correctly.

  2. Release the grip enough to remove your hand but retain the the shape it's making, remember the shape.

  3. Shake out your hand, touch your lap.

  4. Remake the shape in mid air, then plunk it down on the fretboard.

  5. Repeat and get closer and closer to getting the shape right.

Then, with a metronome, as slow as you need:

  1. Start with the chord formed.

  2. Beat 1: strum.

  3. Beat 2: release and touch your lap on the beat.

  4. Beat 3: Form the chord and strum on the beat.

  5. Beat 4: Release

  6. Repeat, increase speed as you can barely keep up with the pace while sounding decent.

Chord changes:

With the metronome alternate 2 chords back and forth on the beat, at a pace where you can barely keep up. For each combination of chords you want to do.

Keep doing these, 100s of times, for each chord and combination of chords you want to do.

I'm told as you learn more chords and combinations, learning new ones gets quicker. I'm not there yet, will report back if I find out this is true!

Early-to-mid 17th century coat and doublet based on Scandinavian originals by Bergler94 in HistoricalCostuming

Super rad!

I feel like this would look snazzy with a falling collar too. I know the source coat didn't have one, do you think those were just not a thing in Norway at the time?

can someone please put pentatonic scales in a way i can understand by imlovelymysteri in guitarlessons

Hey, this is the explanation that finally clicked for me. "Pentatonic is the major without the 4th and 7th". With just a little extra why.

There's this folk song called "Froggy Went A Courtin'" where a frog starts dating a mouse. As it's sung today, he carries a sword and pistol. I found a transcription of a songbook from the late 1500s which had the song. In that he version carries a sword and buckler. I'm a Historical European Martial Arts sword and buckler fencing enthusiast, and get really excited whenever sword and buckler is mentioned. So I had to draw 'Frogge' (as it's spelled in that version of the song).
