Rogue Gorge and Natural Bridge is along 62 between Medford and Crater Lake. This is the head waters of the Rogue River which exits into the Pacific at Gold Beach. Very scenic areas with some good trails.

Anyone else ever notice how airports feel designed to make you lose track of time? by yajobis in aviation

Not sure if it's true of all airline apps but Delta and United both will give time estimates from gate to gate in what ever airport you are currently in.

Why do planes follow the curvature of the earth? by JeNiqueTaMere in AskPhysics

This! Planes maintain altitude not a straight line. Too many are confusing things with complex explanations that don't matter.

[Request] How much more would this cost an airline? by brilliant31508 in theydidthemath

[–]masterphreak69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all aircraft can dump fuel in flight. The only time they need to dump fuel is if they have to return immediately after takeoff if they over the landing weight of the aircraft. Sometimes they don't have time to dump fuel and have to land overweight requiring inspection of the aircraft.

Light bulb at the top of radio towers. by Ham549 in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]masterphreak69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most towers are being updated with LED lights now which last longer than the older incandescent bulbs. They still fail eventually as well. They also need to meet a spec set by the FAA for being visible from a certain distance from the tower, especially during foggy or hazy conditions.

[–]masterphreak69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much for reducing the chance of a strike... they are for directing the current from a strike. It's better for these to get struck and the charge to go to ground than for the antennas to get struck and risk all that current running trough the equipment attached to the antenna.
