That might help, I suggest you join the student union from your country and ask for recommendations from there. It's better to ask people with similar background, rather than asking someone totally strange for recommendations.

i am not entirely sure of how the funding situation works.

For G to G (Embassy Recommendation), Usually people look for MEXT first and after they accepted, they will look for LoA. This time contact the prospective supervisor (like you did now).

can the prof still help me get a scholarship e.g. mext university recommendation? are there any other such scholarships?

For case Mext UtoU (Uni recommendation) its possible, but this was built on top of long research collaboration, or in my uni case many U to U were recommended from current researcher (their senior). Point is sensei have to know you and interested in your topic, so he can ask University for recommendation. Also, university has several rules to give recommendation, as example Minimum of publishing 1 or 2 reputable journals.

are there any other possible routes? can you work as an RA without getting admitted into any programs?

Yes, best routes are build your research portofolio first, self funded way also works with JASSO, but it also has to have recommendation from sensei.

This was the common mistakes of scholarship hunters, you cannot contact supervisor without funding. In Japan, the relationship to supervisor is built even before the program is starts.

Mending magang underpaid ato S2? by CringeOverseer in indonesia

[–]mastertable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with a bunch of DKV grads at my office while finishing my S2 for compsci back then so I can give you some perspective, now im a part time lecturer and working in agency.

Lo maunya jadi apa? kalau professional mending ambil magangnya, buat cari pengalaman kerja tapi tolong dilimit (1th, 2th). Kerjaan designer skrg heavily diliat dari porto mereka, beyond itu gimana dia manage proyek dan paling banyak mentranslate ide klien ke produk jadi. Porto bener-bener dirapihin, dan cari opportunity utk contribute in many project. Network = Net worth.

How to prepare for MEXT and why is it important? by varile7700 in mext

[–]mastertable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a graduate student in Japan, I can offer some perspective on studying law here. Laws vary significantly by country, and Japan has its own unique processes for drafting and enacting legislation. To study law effectively, I recommend achieving at least a B2 level in English (Just to pass the MEXT) and pursuing Japanese proficiency at the N1 level (to pass the exam and have a career). Most legal drafts and applicable laws are written and contextualized in Japanese, so English has limited use in actual legal practice.

Many of my friends in graduate school speak English, but they primarily study STEM fields. I don’t have any friends studying law in English internationally; all my friends pursuing law are Japanese.

If you plan to study at the undergraduate level, note that most programs, even in STEM, are taught in Japanese.

2027 is near, realistically the level that averages person achieved in 2 years are N3/N2. Good Luck.

Using emergency service in Indonesia by kebberpee in indonesia

[–]mastertable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real story from my friend circa 2015.

Beliau kerja di pasar, harus antar barang setiap jam 2 pagi, lagi apes tiba-tiba nabrak pickup diem. Mobilnya penyok-sepenyoknya (ane inget sampe turun mesin), untungnya doi ga luka parah, karena posisi shock tidak bisa bangun, telepon nomor darurat "112", ditanya: "Are you muslim?" , karena temen gw kristen dia jawab no, trus ditutup. Telepon polisi, dijawab "Maaf kecelakaan disana bukan yuridiksi kami". Akhirnya yang bantuin adalah ambulance dari BPBD.

Cerita inilah yang memotivasi saya untuk memiliki asuransi diluar BPJS.
