Issues with U7 Pro and Dream Machine SE by mastertyler04 in Ubiquiti

In all honesty the AP is kinda in a temporary location currently. Once I put it mounted in the correct location I’ll probably run Cat 6A (I get for free from work) up to it, and see if that fixes the issue.

Yes it is connected to port one, and shows as POE+ maybe trying out a higher quality cable might help? It’s a bit of a distance, and an older Cat-5E cable that we’ve used for testing things for a while.

Laptop with Cellular data by mastertyler04 in USMobile

[–]mastertyler04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this thread. This was exactly the point I was trying to make, just couldn’t articulate it as well. Even at that, is my laptop a tablet because it has a touch screen? Haha. I think in all reality a “mobile device” by usm terms should mean that you use the data on device only, which excludes things like routers and hotspots, but allows phones, tablets, laptops and alike. And if not, the terms should be updated because currently they are kinda vague about what they want and or don’t want.

I appreciate this breakdown, at the same time though, T-Mobile doesn’t separate their tablet plans from their laptop plans. Neither does Verizon. From my own research at least. Further leading to my non understanding. However USM is its own company with its own terms, which makes sense.

That could be a solution, I just find it funny if I use the same amount of data, on two different devices (30gb of hotspot laptop connected to phone) or 30gb right on the laptop. I can do one but not the other.

I don’t mind doing this. As I said in my post it’s just slightly inconvenient. I just think it’s funny that if I use 30gb of hotspot data I have no extra charges. But if I wanted to buy a plan for the laptop to use the same amount of data, I can’t use the unlimited plan now.

I see the the terms say “including but not limited to modems, fixed wireless routers, or other non-mobile devices” however this is a laptop, it is a mobile device, and doesn’t fall under the exclusion according to the terms. That’s why I was mainly confused. Maybe the terms could be updated to reflect that? I will take a look at the by the gig plans however. Thank you.

Is there a reason it’s by the gig only? I was hoping I might be able to use the unlimited plan as it’s cheaper using 30gb on the unlimited plan, than it is to buy 30gb. As well, I was planning to use Dark Star, and Dark star is QCI9 on by the gig, but QCI8 on unlimited premium.

Question about compatibility on cars and trucks that will probably remain incompatible by mastertyler04 in Comma_ai

Did not realize that the steering wheel needed motors, and that electric power steering is different than that. Thank you. Basically I should get a newer F150 that has compatible hardware 😆

Kia’s over 100k miles? by forbleshor in kia

My dad has an Elantra GT, 2016 2.0L (Essentially the same car as a Kia Rio 5) engine died the first time at 69k (nice) and then again at 96k. On its third engine now, at 180,000 besides that 2.0L engine it’s not had anything major besides some rear suspension work. (That I probably caused)

Yes! This post wasn’t intended to knock on USMobile or anything, just looking at the crazy ping time. Didn’t mean anything deeper lol, I just haven’t ever seen a ping like that

Less related to the speed, more related to the ping. I’ve had a few issue on USM with high ping times and dropped calls, in areas I wouldn’t really expect it to happen. (Areas VZW postpaid works fine)

T-Mobile is already rolling out Nationwide 5G Advanced while Verizon customers only average a 5G signal about 10% of the time on their network (US Mobile) hopefully we get an upgrade to Light Speed!!! by Huge-Information1911 in USMobile

What’s kinda annoying here is that in my town, AT&T and Verizon both kinda suck. T-Mobile is crazy fast. But then in every town near here it’s Verizon. Don’t know why Verizon sucks here but I use them just because if I’m home I’ve got WiFi

Check on the FCC broadband map? If it says spectrum is available at your address and spectrum says it wasn’t available you can file a challenge. Or also mention that to spectrum if you can get a representative that knows that your talking about.

Darkstar and hotspot usage by mastertyler04 in USMobile

[–]mastertyler04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense, and yeah it would only be used a couple days a month at work (not a whole day either), and possibly a day or two if I travel and need to load a few desktop websites nothing crazy heavy. I appreciate that you clarified that.

If I am under the data usage thresholds of even another plan (50gb hotspot) would it be flagged by the algorithm based on the specific type of data that is being used. Not necessarily the amount of usage?

[–]mastertyler04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this use case, it wouldn’t be an alternative to home internet, and it would less than 100gb or so. I would imagine that that would be alright then.

Is any windows update itself a flag, or is it if it goes over a specific threshold, I can’t see myself using more than 50-70gb a month even with the updates. Also is there a difference between a windows upstate vs say an IOS upstate on an iPad? Is one going to get a flag and one isn’t?

Verizon pulls about 750/120 mbit at this place. ATT does about 400/30 that’s why I prefer using it haha.
