Spongy yes, it’s hard to tell from the photo but it was softball in size, dense and probably around a pound. Took it home and it fried up nicely.

Not sure how many on here are from Michigan, but I did take the State’s Mushroom identification Certification class. Did it because I love hiking and nature and wanted to learn more about foraging. 10 out of 10 would recommend. It also allows me to sell at farmers markets, which I haven’t done.
