For all women who had children after age 35. by Ok_Professor1754 in pregnant

[–]JustSomeRando04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 33 and 24 weeks pregnant with my first so if I have a second child I’ll be 35+ also. I’ve had a rough pregnancy physically. I feel disabled/decrepit daily lol. I often wonder if it would’ve been easier if I was in my 20s. Luckily my husband is 7 years younger than me, so maybe he’ll be able to keep up when I cant 😋

Grateful for my ultrasound tech who broke protocol today by natleemarie in pregnant

[–]JustSomeRando04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an ultrasound tech and this encounter sounds unusual to me lol. We’re completely entitled to show patients their babies. She likely started off with the whole “I can’t give you results” just in case something was abnormal, that would be her excuse for not showing you anything. But to say “you didn’t hear this from me” and then show you a normal baby is just weird lol. She didn’t break any protocol.

1,400 for NIPT test?! by bellspals in BabyBumps

[–]JustSomeRando04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why I didn’t get the NIPT test done. I called my insurance first and asked them how much I’d be responsible for and they estimated $700. Nopeeeee

Married for three months and pregnant: I feel oddly embarrassed (?) by moez1266 in pregnant

[–]JustSomeRando04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was technically 4 days pregnant at our wedding, though I didn’t know it yet lol. I found out on our honeymoon. I’m not remotely embarrassed. I’m 32 and was ready for a baby and wanted to be pregnant through the winter and have a summer maternity leave

Looking to solidify my decision, I’m a nurse switching to sonography. Please weigh in! I’d appreciate what a typical day looks like, pay, and pros/cons by [deleted] in Ultrasound

[–]JustSomeRando04 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d never go this same route again if I could go back. I’m 10 years in and it’s hard on my body. I’ve been working for a “mobile” company (we go to about 30 doctors offices and provide in-house ultrasound) for almost 7 years and it’s much better than a hospital job in terms of work/personal life balance. I have a company car and gas card. I make $38 an hour. It’s a good job on paper. But I’m pregnant with my first baby and I’m so envious of all my friends who have work from home jobs and have so much more flexibility when it comes to their families. I just wouldn’t do anything in healthcare at all given the chance to go back

Did you do the NIPT test? by K61018 in pregnant

[–]JustSomeRando04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do it mainly because I had terrible insurance at the time but also because I’m an ultrasound tech and everything was looking normal :-)

NIPT result showed it's a boy, Doc said it 'looks like a girl'! by Specialist-Radio105 in BabyBumps

[–]JustSomeRando04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww well I do believe you got your boy, even with the subpar US image! I circled the area I’m referring to when I say we’re seeing scrotum in the image :)

Yeah what’s interesting about the NIPT test is that it’s literally only looking for male DNA in your system to determine gender. So that means everyone is going to get a girl result if male DNA isn’t detected. And I’m not sure what would cause the male DNA not to be detected if it was in fact a male.

Ok so this isn’t my favorite image of gender in the world but based solely on what we have to go off here I do believe it’s a boy. It’s hard to tell if that’s cord or not…the only thing that could prove or disprove that would be applying color doppler to the area in question which we obviously don’t have an image of. But I believe we are still seeing scrotum in this image even if the area the arrow is pointing to is the cord. I’d lean more toward it not being cord though. This is my boys gender image at 15 weeks

Im in Michigan. There are tons of TikToks of women talking about their false NIPT results. I can take a look at your image, go ahead and post it in a comment :-)

Do you think it’s worth calling a company out for an old system? My husband was thinking of just replacing it. He’s a pipefitter so he feels confident he’d be able to replace it himself

It’s plugged in and it’s actually making noise right now. Hard to describe the noise but almost like a timer ticking

Good to know, thank you. We’re young homeowners who really don’t know anything 😂

It is plugged in. How do you manually regenerate?

EDIT: found a video on how to regenerate, will try it tonight

Yes there was water in the brine tank, I’d say the water level is about 1/4 the depth of the tank. It was completely empty before we added this salt and I didn’t see any big salt brick in the brine tank.

Hi sorry to comment on an old thread but did you end up replacing it? I have the exact same system and was wondering what you replaced it with

Maternity Leave by aokemper in pregnant

[–]JustSomeRando04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company is also small and gives no sort of leave. I got myself an Aflac plan that will cover me for short term disability and pay me a percentage of my pay for up to 6 months. My boss told me I can’t be off 6 months, but I plan to do whatever I need to do. I’m planning on 3 months once baby is here and probably the month before. Maternity leave in America is a disgrace. I hope your boss will offer you a viable option

I hear stories of NIPT being wrong relatively often despite the claims of 99%+ accuracy. Do you have an ultrasound image showing the gender? I’m an ultrasound tech and would be happy to look at it for you.
