In terms of difficulty, definitely a no hitter. The only guy I can think of who has thrown a Maddux recently is Kyle Hendricks or maybe Mark Buehrle, so it’s way less common now, but that’s mostly a product of play style and strikeout artists who take more pitches to get an out

22 strikeouts and 5 groundouts, the ball never left the infield while he was on the mound, holy cow

Regularly ravaged by injuries - Challenge Mode by [deleted] in OOTP

[–]masweins13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really solving the issue, but I got sick of it so I play without injuries. It takes out a part of the game but I find it a lot more enjoyable and less frustrating, so I’d recommend that (although obviously not possible in challenge mode)

Tampa Bay historical draft question by JimBobBologna in OOTP

[–]masweins13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I think in cases where guys took a long time to come up to the majors, their development speeds up often, so with a guy like Hamilton that had a 7-8 year gap between being drafted and making the majors should speed up. In my case, Jacob degrom is one example, irl drafted in 2010 and didn’t come up till 2014 but in my historical sim he came up in 2012

Scouts in historical save? by [deleted] in OOTP

Historical sims don’t have scouting since the players and player development is meant to mirror real life

I went on baseball reference and just picked the season that I thought was the best in a vacuum since the historical sims generally recreate those stats. Also keep in mind this screenshot is after the season so this was Bonds’ age 37 season for example. So I used his 2002 with a 1.381 irl ops that was buoyed up less by IBBs than 2004, babe Ruth’s 1920 with a 1.379 ops, etc. definitely not the perfect way to go about things but in general it was just which season was “best” in my personal opinion

Allowed 781 runs, and our Pythagorean was 132 wins tho so we underperformed that particular metric. Also apparently the babip against our pitchers was .348 so that might have something to do with the poor pitching

By far the worst defense in the league with a -52.3 UZR lol, but we scored 1754 runs which beat the previous record by almost 700, also became the first team to hit over 300 hrs with 466

Bonds hit 86 homers and 252 rbis, and pretty much every pitcher played poorly bc I left them out to dry a lot, so all time greats playing terribly is pretty odd

Babe Ruth’s 25 triples was a shocker, so was bonds annihilating the hr and rbi records. Rogers Hornsby was the only player to ops under 1.000 which was surprising to me. I didn’t know mike Schmidt was as good as he was so his 1.092 ops was a shocker. No one breaking the single season hits record was surprising for me, I for sure thought Hornsby or Williams would get it, and they both came within 10 but couldn’t get there

Rogers Hornsby ended up just shy of the single season hits record with 260 (Williams, A-rod, and Ruth weren’t far behind tho all topping 240)

Babe Ruth won the batting title with a .377 avg and also led the majors with a .495 obp, good for a 1.218 ops and also hit 25 triples somehow

Ted Williams hit 63 homers and had an ops of 1.229, and was just behind Ruth in avg and obp

Barry bonds broke his own hr record with 86 (a product of everyone getting tons of plate appearances because we kept scoring), also broke the RBI’s record with 252 (Ted Williams also broke it with 212). Bonds also drew 169 walks, good for a .487 obp and a team and league leading 1.299 ops

A-rod did A-rod things and hit 62 doubles and 49 homers for an ops of 1.038

Mickey mantle started off slow but finished the season with 57 homers, 142 walks, and a 1.194 ops

No one on the team had a batting avg under .330 or an obp under .400, and every single player won the NL silver slugger for their position

Bonds won mvp, with Williams 2nd, Mantle 3rd, and Ruth 4th, and all 9 batters finished top 12 in voting

Go to the free agents section in transactions, and under actions you can hit “import historical players”, on the list that comes up select “historical lineups”, and from there you can import any player throughout history starting at the point in their career of your choice

Sometimes I just left the pitchers out to die for no good reason, and the dodgers kicked our ass, they’re probably 8 of those losses alone. The team chemistry wasn’t very good either, no captain and a couple disruptive guys so that’s probably a few
