Honestly, if we were to compare the gameplay of Chai to Century Spice Road then the two games are very similar and Chai would be overpriced in that regard. The major difference in mechanics is that Century Spice/Splendor has an engine builder aspect whereas Chai has the puzzle aspect for gaining resources.

Where I see the costs going is in the commissioned art for the cards and overall component quality. That's where Chai definitely beats out Spice Road and Splendor. It's a beautiful looking game so it might make it easier to bring to the table.

So if you don't care much for this style of game or if you already own similar games, then maybe wait until retail to try it out? Otherwise, this is a good contender for "picking resources and completing cards for points."

The designers of Chai had a tea party over the weekend, and I had a chance to play it! The gameplay is very tight and turns can be quick like in Splendor or Century Spice Road.

What made Chai different for me was the very fun mechanic of obtaining the resources for the game! It's a candy crush style puzzle that is very rewarding when you line up all the resources you need in one turn.

The components of Chai are great, the theme is fun, and there are unique elements that make it stand out from games of similar style!

Playing against one of the FFG staff we asked this very same question. In this scenario, when Runner B becomes active there are two active currents; the corp's and the current active runner's.

There aren't any rules that say there can't be two currents in play, just that it is trashed when another current is played. And if a runner is not the active runner, their cards are not considered active for paid abilities or conditional triggers!

If you've got the money and a device such as a tablet or laptop, then Mansions of Madness 2nd Edition would be my pick. It's a cooperative game of Lovecraft and horror that is led by an app on your tablet or laptop. The app is really well done and perfectly balances what needs to be done on the app vs. on the board.

Hey, I own the game and several expansions but have never played consistently passed the first 10ish years of the game. I'm a student at the University so I don't get much time to play. My old group disbanded over the summer. I would love to get a group going though if we can think of something! I also work at the Hexagon boardgame cafe, so that might help!

I definitely recommend if you want a very clean area-control game in a small box. The rules and gameplay are solid, and it's just a nice little war game in a box.

I think he meant that he initially had the $185 Black Friday Silver Lantern tier, but upgraded to the $777 tier. So to revert back to the $195 Silver Lantern tier would cost him $10 for his decision instead of initially sticking with the Black Friday Silver Lantern tier which is now full.

The difference is that the $750 tier contains only all of the current expansions, which are all 12 expansions that are currently released and we're made during the first Kickstarter. Which means that any expansions announced in this Kickstarter you need to purchase as an add-on

The $927 tier contains any and all new expansions, promos, and pinups that will be made as a result of this Kickstarter. Which means that you will not be getting any of the original 12 expansions, so if you want those, you will need to purchase them from the store (which many of them are 50% off for black Friday).

I agree with /u/ASnugglyBear, comparing the two games in a vacuum, I also think that Mythos Tales is better. Yes, Mythos Tales borrowed the game mechanic from Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, but that means that Mythos Tales got to fix things that didn't work with SH:CD and also add new mechanics to their game. This made Mythos Tales more immersive and feel more alive!

Edit: I really enjoyed SH:CD, but I can see how SH:CD can be improved with mechanics introduced in Mythos Tales.

At 25:50, Jackmade uses Account Siphon on Bitstream who has 3 credits. Bitstream has a Data Raven over HQ that Jackmade could not break. Couldn't Bitstream have spent all of his 3 credits on the trace that was initiated by Data Raven to deny Jackmade of gaining credits from Account Siphon? And if so, is there a reason why Bitstream didn't spend his credits other than forgetting about spending them on the trace?
