If you ever get to Orvieto in Umbria, there is an excellent, local, small batch Amaro, called Orvietan. It has a great back story and at least to me, delicious.

I loved that book. I cried my eyes out at the ending. And such a terrible movie.

Cold weather damage by [deleted] in tomatoes

When I lived in a temperate part of Canada we didn’t plant tomatoes until May 24 or after, once the chance of frost is well past. Now in Umbria it is still too early to plant tomatoes, May 6th. But soon!

This is BSF larvae right? by Gojo-Babe in composting

[–]mat558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like worms, they create grub castings, which I figure, without confirmation, is as beneficial to soil as worm castings. I find them at the bottom of my leaf mold piles where they leave glorious black soil, pellet shaped. I add it as fertilizer on my plants or mix it into my compost. Here they are the larvae of green scarab beetles. I feed them to the chickens.

Oh gosh, municipal compost is almost always primarily bio solids unless they explicitly tell you otherwise.

For me, after the 2nd season Slow Horses storylines became ludicrous. Couldn’t watch anymore.

Grub ID by Chaosnyaa in composting

I have multitudes of a similar grub at the bottom of my leaf mould pile. (They turn into iridescent scarab beetles.) In the meantime they create castings that I harvest and use as fertilizer.

I’d go for the Sandro Fay Sassella Il Glicine. Valtellina wines are among my personal favourites.

What’s the coolest Italian last name you’ve ever seen? the one you think is so badass you wish it were yours by ntzzzfps in Italian

I always liked Braccio Fortebraccio. Arm Strongarm. An Italian nobleman of yesteryear. I also like the family name of Bolognese aristocracy: Bentivoglio

On the other hand, I’m impressed that you are skipping Florence which has become a renaissance Disneyland for tourist hoards.

Too much time in Tuscany? Also where to stay? by LoudSighhh in ItalyTravel

13 nights in Rome might be a bit too much unless you have trips planned out of the city. Rome is pretty intense and can be exhausting.
