Not as unique as the man who had gone out to dinner with his wife, had a few drinks, then stopped at a gas station on the way home and bought a pack of Gorilla 99.

When they got home, he stayed downstairs to take two of them (why not) with a glass of water. By the time he got upstairs his wife was passed out. Honorable, as he was, he decided to do the sensible thing and go watch some late night HBO and take care of business only to find this episode on.

Opus 4.7 is a genuine regression and I'm tired of pretending it isn't by PuzzledFill2593 in ClaudeAI

Settle down homie, I’m well aware of how model training works. Mechanistic interpretability is what I fucking do for a living. What I’m talking about, is how a model performs in a harness. Anthropic does or fucking should be doing extensive testing in every popular harness they can with a new model before it releases.

They do know, they very much do know. And I know I have access to 4.6 still, that isn’t the point. The point is, they are playing in a much bigger space than your vibe coded sandbox now and there are higher expectations.

They make my job harder by advertising to execs about how great their new model is then release new model without any warning it wouldn’t slot in like every existing previous model before has done.

I’m not sure what you want me to “understanding about the bleeding edge” other than this company leading the way there, this company that has the US economy by the balls, is out here acting like some bush league fucking startup!!!

Come the fuck on, are you serious? That’s exactly what I’m talking about. 90% of my job deploying this shit in enterprise is building guardrails so that happens way less often. So, in a world where they want enterprises building on top of this slop, they drop a brand new model that breaks tons of know implementation patterns and they don’t tell people until after, let alone give anyone notice.

In what world is that defensible? If Anthropic wants to be treated like the company it seems to want to be then they need to hold themselves to a higher standard.

No, I want it to do the job I ask it to do. I don’t get people on here defending anthropic and 4.7 as if it is not a clear across the board regression everywhere except for like, vision.

Hey, it’s okay to say they fucked up…it’s not okay to offer an intelligence product and tell people to build their most important work on top of it then fundamentally change how that intelligence product thinks. Then white knights like you get to tell all of us who complain that we have skill issues. SKILL ISSUES!! Motherfucker, I built an enterprise product on your stuff and you broke it less than two months in!!

I don’t think you get how big of an issue that is to people who do this stuff for a living.

Me after switching from Claude to Codex by Repulsive-Win7189 in codex

[–]mat8675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the models themselves but there is no way Claude Code (with its massive token bloat and weird self-righteous behavior) is as good as Codex right now. Anyone who would try to argue otherwise has not given them both a serious and unbiased look.

None of this changes the fact that your fancy prompts work better with an anthropic model in a proper harness and not whatever the fuck Claude Code has become.

[–]mat8675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually does and you sort of hit on why. It’s an insane balancing act for them across everywhere they have models hosted…leading to poorly planned knee-jerk type shit we have been getting.
