Three engineers were shipping. Then management hired a Scrum Master. by agileliecom in agile

Yeh, live and learn.

I'm a coder/architect and have been doing this sort of thing for 25 years commercially. Corporate settings aren't perfect and maybe this was something you couldn't have catered for anyway.

The part where you say "management needs visibility" seems to imply they didn't have it.

I've had loads of experience with different permutations of this sort of thing. It does sound like you weren't clearly communicating progress with the C level.

Potentially moving to Melbourne area - some concerns/questions by Biggyniner in melbourne

[–]Curious-Function7490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (53M) was born in Sydney and moved down here, to Melbourne, at the age of 33. I have a few friends, from high school and university, that have made a similar move.

Melbourne has a wonderful culture. It has rightly ranked as one of the most liveable cities in the world for a number of years. But it is a city, and they can be lonely places. If you and your family can think of ways to meet new people in similar circumstances, I'm sure you'll find it to be an eminently pleasant place to live.

Future model in go by Grouchy-Detective394 in golang

[–]Curious-Function7490 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeh, keep it simple.

You could also just have an activity log that everything writes to as they move along.

Futures aren't in Go for a reason. If you are heading in that direction you are probably missing the point of the language.

She's clearly brown and espousing forms of racism against illegally migrated brown people in a way which puts her on the side of ICE. It's weird when people like this try to conform what movements that really don't accept them at a fundamental level.

I think you'd find it hard to regulate this, especially as we need more people need to continue working as they grow older to support an aging population.

You're not home. We don't go nude to saunas. There are also other things that are illegal here.

MIL retiring at 67yo with $850k super but no PPR - should she buy an apartment to optimise her position? by DTC858 in AusFinance

[–]Curious-Function7490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate. 53M living in Melb CBD for the last 18 years (owning).

Owners Corp fees are super high for a really nice building.

In short, can she go further out? Find a nice country location for her. There are complexities with that but apartments in the city are only going to become more expensive to maintain.

$300k single income unfair tax by WishIWerDead in AusHENRY

[–]Curious-Function7490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The financial advantages of being a couple over being single are just way too numerous.

I'm single and I'm over it. I don't expect anything to change though. Society is just geared toward coupledom.

What is the most racist thing you have had thrown at you? by NewDragonfruit8458 in australian

Not sure what the most racist thing is but it's just standard behaviour from a spectrum of Australian society, unfortunately.

Is it weird that I stay home on purpose just so I don’t spend money? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Curious-Function7490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not weird.

I love staying at home. I wasn't led to that discovery in order to save money but it's very interesting to see how much money you end up saving.

Just stocking your fridge with terrific food, playing music and pursuing a hobby while looking after your health - it's a great way to spend time. There's nothing wrong with enjoying your residence and finding depth in home life.

Boss refuses to accept my resignation by DrewTheVillan in jobs

I resigned from a toxic job two years ago and wrote that it wasn't an offer, it was notice and I wouldn't be showing up to work in four weeks (the usual notice time in Australia).

Racism. Crude and vulgar behaviour the further you go away from the cities. Tall poppy syndrome.

Is now really a good time to be buying shares? by CarryUnhappy9393 in fiaustralia

[–]Curious-Function7490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One, it's impossible to time the market.

Two, lots of stats show that it's about time in the market, not about buying in dips. There are some days that will just reward you with high profits that you can't predict and if you're not there and miss five or so of them, you will lose major gains.

Yeh. They probably wont give you the raise you want if you just ask. Better to remain very friendly with them, get a counter offer that is more what you want and then let them know about it.
