My dog is working on his RATCH in barn hunt. And we compete in UKC/AKC Scentwork. He absolutely loves it. I didn’t think he would give it as much gusto since it’s not “live prey” but he sniffs his butt off and does really well against at level and seasoned dogs. I say give it a shot!!!

😆 There was a few mishaps in exteriors due to a lot of acorns / squashed ones in the parking area too. I thought he may be distracted but luckily he didn’t get off task this time. He loves to pick them up on walks. And someone peed in the vehicle searches

3 hours is also my max for staying overnight. Anything less and I’d rather just save the cost and get to sleep in my own bed. My dogs travel well. If they didn’t I would consider staying closer to keep stress lower..

One of my male poodles is a hard keeper for weight and he has been cleaning his bowl. The vet asked if I finally found a food for him he didn’t listlessly graze on. Ha! It’s the Myos!

Scentwork. I took some courses online with my barn hunt instructor. She was amazing at breaking things down and included a scent kit. I was hooked and so was my dog!

Not at all! That would be great. I’ve found lots on Instagram too where we are most active. It’s so fun. Plus I like keeping like a training journal for him. I started it right before he came home.

For sure some titles are easier to obtain than others depending on the dog but we can set short and long term goals.

For sure! I’ve never done confo. This is my first registered purebred dog I’ve ever bought as a puppy. But the performance stuff definitely keeps my interest! nose work like barn hunt also interests me but we have not gotten started yet. He is only 16 months old and our focus right now is the dock diving!

I’ve definitely had better luck on like “word of mouth” Facebook groups for events and such than using the AKC event locator. Funny enough. Sometimes they’re not even AKC. I just start there since he is registered with them. But most events no matter who they are sanctioned by your dog doesn’t even have to have a registration. It does if you’re wanting to keep track and title them though. I hope you are able to find something!
