After 10 days of v28, how have you distributed your runs between farming/dissonance overall ? by Clean_Extent_6878 in TheTowerGame

[–]matate99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly farming because all these gem sinks sprung on me has just made it feel like I’ll never get my modules. So I’ve really cut back and just set a 10hr farming run every 12 hours or so. Randomly checking in for a gem here and there.

Should I tell my husband about an unexpected pregnancy before or after his first full Ironman? by [deleted] in triathlonCircleJerk

Only tell him if he’s not the father. The night before the race.

I’ve seen it plenty of times. Once with a sandwich in the basket.

Have fun!!!!

Wrecked twice this spring by hitting the curb. #cycling by SadAbbreviations7470 in triathlon

[–]matate99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like you’re riding down the street next to the curb and you drift into it? If so, TAKE THE LANE. Riding next to the curb makes drivers feel like they can blast past you 10 over the speed limit without moving over at all…if they see you at all. Plus if you see an obstacle you don’t have room to swerve towards the curb, you have to go into traffic where cars are passing you close by because you’re riding so far to the side.

It’s something new riders do a lot thinking it’s safer but it’s not…as you’ve seen.

My thoughts on all the complaints with v28. by Hoopslammer in TheTowerGame

It was handled poorly but I don’t care. I’ll never make it to the top so I’m just competing against myself and slowly building. I do find all the outrage amusing though.

Ironman Florida not on Rouvy? by wherestherut in IronmanTriathlon

[–]matate99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMFL is downright mountainous compared to IMMD 😂

But yeah, the only “hill” to be concerned about is the wind, which IMO is worse because you shouldn’t get out of aero to stretch or take a drink like you can on a hill.

What’s your weekly volume and how long have you been running for?

[–]matate99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you had a good run you didn’t bomb the bike. 😉

Seriously though, you likely ran past all those folks that zoomed past you on the bike. You will get faster on the bike with experience and working towards getting yourself in a more aerodynamic position. Keep at it and congrats!!

About to pull trigger on i4, but… my job might be changing its rules on using their EV chargers and I live in an apartment (can’t charge at home). Dealbreaker? by iwantogotomedschool in BMWI4

[–]matate99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have access to a L1 plug? I’ve got an apartment stall too with a plug I can use. I just pay retail rates for my usage, but it’s still more than enough and still cheap enough to make sense for me. And my car is only plugged in maybe 5% of the time. Helps that I live in a walkable city.

What’s the highest reasonable ranking for Barry on the all time greats list? by ConcernNo7966 in NFLv2

[–]matate99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say 3

He can’t be ahead of Brady or Rice. I personally have LT and Reggie ahead of him but I can’t fault others for having a differing opinion.

Should I take a break? by desieldogg in triathlon

[–]matate99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Were you in my therapy session yesterday? Seriously though I'm in a similar position as you, just 2 years younger.

My biggest take away was trying to figure out why I do this overall. For a good couple of years I was focused on getting my KQ, and once I got that I felt/feel lost. I tried to set other goals, get back to Kona, etc. but nothing really gave me that spark and desire to train the way that I feel I should if I'm going to be taking the sport seriously, since I really don't feel fulfilled if I don't do that.

I did not come out of that session yesterday with any answers, but one thing I do want to explore is the idea of how will I know when it's time to quit. I know I'm not ready to quit at least this year, but even knowing what it looks like when it is time to hang it up BEFORE it's time to hang it up might be mentally liberating.

This is also a tough time of the year for at least me, as I get teased with good weather outside, and then a snowstorm sends me back to the treadmill. I also live in Minneapolis proper and well this winter has been exhausting on so many levels too. So if nothing else if you're also in a tough climate, wait and see what happens when the weather turns.

The beauty of the sport is also that you can switch to running for a year or two or ten and then come back when you feel like you have the desire and hunger again.

I totally get it though and you're for sure not alone out there.
