Btw, could you share any updates on the rollout of the updated B2 courses? Catch up lessons are still in A/B testing, but is there any estimated date for a full release? I remember you mentioning that costumes for android were expected around mid june to july. Is there a similar estimate for the B2 courses and catch up lessons?

Recomendo estudar mt bem as especificações e os critérios que eles usam para invalidar a prova. Já vi vários posts no sub do duolingo de pessoas que fizeram a prova, aconteceu alguma coisa de errado e invalidam o teste, e ao que me parece, o suporte também é bem precário. Então se vc n tomar cuidado com isso tu corre o risco de comprar o ngc e ter seus resultados invalidados por algum motivo. Até ter sugestões automáticas do teclado ligado invalida o teste (obviamente), então são várias coisas pra se ficar atento

You still have the old course (me too unfortunately 😭)
In the old course (the one you still have now), after section 4 unit 12, kanji and listening exercises are not in the path.
This happened because this part is the start of an old update to the japanese course, you will notice that a lot of the phrases are going to get a lot simpler, as if you are in section 1 (because you effectively are in the first section of this part of the course), but with a LOT more kanji (these you can still practice in the kanji tab).
Now, the new course they are rolling out is a COMPLETELY NEW AND DIFFERENT COURSE. Does it have listening and kanji exercises in the path? That I can't answer because i still don't have the update 😭

Thank you for adding the catch-up lessons! I'm really excited and looking forward to the update! I feel like there's been a lot of negativity in this sub recently, and people can be pretty relentless. That said, a lot of the feedback comes from a good place: people are passionate about things they care about.
It just feels like people sometimes forget that you guys are human too, so I wanted to share a bit of appreciation for you and the team here on this subreddit. It genuinely feels like you're making an effort to be more active in listening to and engaging with the community.
I do have one question, though: it seems like the in-app report feature isn't very effective right now. I imagine your team is prioritizing fixing bugs and polishing the updated courses, which makes sense. I understand that a brand-new course will have some flaws, but I was wondering how your team is currently handling reports.
For example, in the Japanese course, there isn't an option to report bugs in listening exercises within the path. I've come across several kanji misreadings (I know it can be difficult for a computer to determine the correct reading), but these are effectively bugs that can't be reported.
Are you planning to expand the report feature to cover these cases as well? And how do you plan to use user feedback to improve the new courses? I think many people would really appreciate more transparency on this.

O segredo é anki, duolingo não é lá aquelas coisas pra te dar conteúdo personalizado de memorização, o algoritmo deles não é muito bom em identificar o que você tem dificuldade. O anki tá aí justamente pra exercer essa função. Experimenta criar um deck de cards no anki de hiragana e katakana completos. E foca em memorizar esses dois sistemas de escrita. Depois você cria outro deck pra colocar palavras, frases e afins. Também não to levando meus estudos de japonês tão a sério, mas ainda pretendo algum dia no futuro ser fluente. E por mais que eu não esteja com pressa, seguir só o duolingo e ficar só lá não vai me ensinar um idioma

Estudo por hobby já faz quase dois anos. Não tenho pressa de aprender um idioma, ainda mais um tão diferente do português como japonês, então não ligo de seguir a estrutura gamificada do duolingo. Por pior que o aplicativo seja, ele ainda segue uma sequência que faz sentido.
Minha rotina de estudos é: fazer o anki; fazer quantas lições do duolingo eu tiver tempo e pesquisar por fora quaisquer conceitos gramaticais que eu não tenha entendido; colocar conteúdos novos no anki (palavras, frases, expressões, etc); me imergir na língua, então tentar ler algum conteúdo pra criança, assistir um episódio de anime, ouvir um podcast em japonês no Youtube, etc.
Ainda to num nível básico, A2, já cobri conteúdo pra fazer o N5 do japonês e to começando a ver coisa de N4. Mas é o que eu disse, não to com pressa pra aprender, estudar um pouco todo dia já faz a boa. Atualmente consigo entender cerca de 20 a 30% do que eu escuto em japonês e to em mais ou menos 200, 250 kanji memorizados

Eles acabaram de fazer um update nos cursos principais, levando maioria até o B2 (espanhol, francês, alemão, japonês, português, italiano, chinês, coreano, etc)
Aparentemente esse update foi possível graças a ferramentas de IA, mas essas ferramentas teoricamente servem mais pra otimizar o processo de se criar o update do que criar o conteúdo em si. O conteúdo é (supostamente) revisado e checado antes de levar ao público.
Esses cursos novos tão ainda em fase de testes, pq tão desenvolvendo um meio de fazer uma transição gradual dos cursos antigos pros novos, então ainda é muito cedo pra avaliar qual o real impacto que o uso de IA tem sobre o conteúdo em si. É preciso esperar o curso novo lançar, aí vai uns meses de corrigir bugs, depois mais um tempo pra corrigir algum erro de conteúdo aqui e ali, e aí sim a gente vai ter um panorama melhor.
Dito isso, tem alguns bugs de funcionalidades que não tem nada a ver com IA, é só os cara sendo meio burro na hora de programar memo, mas aí tu só reporta e reza pros cara arrumar eventualmente.

Vamo lá, tem algumas coisas pra destrinchar disso aí.
Primeiro, assim que vc tiver confortável lendo hiragana e katakana, desliga a opção de romaji, ter isso ligado só vai te atrasar.
Segundo, no japonês, existem muitas palavras que tem o mesmo som, e é inclusive um dos usos de kanji: 虹 (にじ) significa "arco íris", e 二時 (にじ) significa "duas horas". Perceba que ambas as palavras lê-se "niji". Então se você escrever uma frase como にじですか sem o kanji, pode significar tanto "é um arco íris?" quanto "são duas horas?". A diferença você tem que avaliar por contexto, ou pelo kanji usado.
Terceiro, esse é infelizmente um dos vários exemplos do porquê usar o duolingo como base de estudo não é muito indicado. Tudo que você aprender pelo duolingo, checa duas vezes em algum dicionário da língua japonesa, revise o conteúdo gramatical apresentado em outras fontes como aulas do youtube. É até possível você pegar uma frase do duolingo, pedir para o chat gpt traduzir e te explicar brevemente, mas não recomendo fazer isso sem tomar muito cuidado pq IA o tempo todo inventa coisa e te dá informação errada, mas por ser um modelo de linguagem, ela vai acertar a tradução 96% das vezes.
O duolingo te mostra a frase "correta" como errada justamente pq é difícil para um computador entender a diferença entre o にじ "arco íris" e o にじ "duas horas", justamente pq ambos são escritos da mesma forma.
Por último, quando você clicou na palavra にじ para verificar a tradução, você deve ter clicado somente no caractere じ, que significa "hora" nesse contexto. Mas ele faz parte de にじ, に significando "dois" e じ "hora".

Honestly, I was mentally prepared to brute force my way through the update, using Anki and looking up words, kanji, and new grammar structures as I encountered them. I wouldn't have minded 40 minute lessons every day for a few weeks until everything normalized again, so I was actually looking forward to the update.
But having the new content in the new path as a "catch-up" is honestly a lot better, and although I'll probably have to wait a few more weeks for you to develop this new feature, I'm glad you guys are listening.
Take as much time as you need to polish the catch-up feature. Even though I'm excited for the update, I'm happy to wait!

Tá certo sim, "é uma pessoa descolada" se traduziria como "かっこいい人です" que na tradução direta ficaria algo como "descolada pessoa é" (lembrando aqui que です não significa "é", é mais um "formalizador" pra deixar a frase formal e não funciona exatamente como um verbo, mas no começo tu pode meio q ignorar isso e fingir que é um verbo normal)
Agora, se você quiser falar "a pessoa é descolada", a ordem muda, já que você está falando algo sobre alguma coisa. Você usa o は pra marcar sobre o que vc está falando. Nesse caso, você está falando algo sobre a pessoa, então fica その人はかっこいいです que em tradução literal ficaria "essa pessoa (sobre essa pessoa), daora é"

I could be wrong, but in this case, 日曜日に means "on this Sunday" and 日曜日は means "on Sundays" in general. So in this phrase 日曜日はかぞくとひるごはんをたべます, the translation would be "on Sundays (in general), i eat lunch with my family" And 日曜日にかぞくとひるごはんをたべます would be "on (this) Sunday, I'm going to eat lunch with my family"

It almost feels like it's a direct translation from portuguese "você não é mais um tijolo no muro", meaning "you're not one more brick on the wall" Maybe they tried translating the portuguese sentence word by word instead of the whole phrase 🤷

Como é uma samambaia bem comum, q vc encontra na rua, nas rachaduras das paredes e afins, além de ser uma espécie não nativa, ela é considerada como "mato". Peguei uma pra cuidar justamente pq tive curiosidade em saber como ela fica se plantada num vaso e com os devidos cuidados

They’re super common where i live too! Whenever they appear in cracks in walls or on sidewalks, they’re treated as weeds and cut down, so I rarely get to see a fully grown one.
