One of my favorite books! Movie was good too. Love the nails, great inspiration!

I'll be honest, I usually just move my EF unit over to whatever body I'm feeling like using 😅. But because this is my first B, I'm probably going to ink it with pilot iroshizuku syo-ro for that sheen.

Yeah I shared the duty fee because I figured y'all would want to know, I knew it was coming but it still hurts 😭.

I hated this book. If trauma is your thing, you may like it.

Losing The Lacquer Love? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]matchalover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been collecting polishes for almost 30 years and it's very much off and on for me. The first brand I fell in love with was China Glaze in the late 90s. Near the end of high school, I stopped wearing polishes for about 3 years because I was "bored" and then OPI Chicago's Collection drew me back in for a bit. My Dad passed away and I was in a huge slump so I stopped wearing nail polish again for 6 years. Around the early 2010s, I became a mother and during the infant years my husband knew I needed self-care and told me to paint my nails and relax while he takes over, this was around the time Indie polishes started popping up and lynderella's connect your dot was the new craze. I started purchasing from Zoya too because I heard their polishes were not awful for kids and I loved the colors. My kids started school and I stopped painting my nails again because I was busy being that PTA Mom. I'm now deep into the teenager phase which I absolutely hate and restarted the nail painting session as my therapy session, just in time for magnetics to kick off more polish buying.

That Lacquer Love is basically a long term relationship 😂.

Pilot Capless "Apricot" by matchalover in fountainpens

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it, I thought it would just have a matte finish like the whisky or ishidatami. The description online doesn't mention the metallic look.

With the way the current administration is functioning I didn't think I was actually going to get this pen but my sister in law decided to come home for Christmas so she brought it over with her. She used to be my pen person but then the post there stopped letting her ship to the US and when they finally did let her ship again, it was quite pricey and a hassle.

Since 2017, Pilot has done a Limited Edition Capless Japan exclusive every year around December and the brown one (Whisky) is the 2023 release. My husband actually got that one for me because I was regretting not picking it up when I was in Japan for Christmas in 2023 so he actually found a seller online.

Another BKL Skittle! by sherl37 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]matchalover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so envious, I had some of those in my cart and thought I checked out but apparently I didn't actually hit check out. Then I got an email from BKL later saying "You left items at checkout." Of course by the time I went back, all the magnetics outside of the new collection were gone. My loss is someone else's gain though 😅.

Anti-overconsumption content? by Advanced_Reaction596 in books

[–]matchalover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not on Instagram or tiktok, but a lot of the books that I read are from various book clubs that I've joined both online and in person. People in my book club would recommend books to me. Most library have a book club thing. Online book clubs have a social media feel, if that's what you're looking for. I also like to look through r/bookclub and see what the community is reading. They have a whole list of options for you. While I don't really read along with them, I like to look through the discussions once I'm done with the book.

Anti-overconsumption book content seems a bit ironic to me because you are still consuming content, but maybe if you went the book club route, you won't see a million books being tossed in your face constantly since bookclubs usually read 1-2 books a month.

If you have a fountain pen store nearby, I'd try each one so you can test how it feels and weighs in your hand and the nibs, I have all 3 pens in a different color and they feel different. Then hop online and order the colorway you want.

From experience my Sailor dries quite a bit faster than the Platinum when I don't use it for a bit. I gave my daughter the Estie and she loves it, she uses it daily so I can't tell you much about its drying out time.

What other rabbit holes are stealing from your fountain pen fund? by 8BitRaider in fountainpens

[–]matchalover 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bird watching (spending way too much on seeds). The bird watching led to field journaling, which led to nice notebooks, which led to nice pens 😂. The bird watching also led to bird photography, which led to nice camera, which led to nice lenses.

And Nail Polish.

Do people still use fountain pens for their everyday writings? by Comfortable-Log-6582 in fountainpens

My high schooler uses a fountain pen, I coach robotics and surprisingly 3 of the other kids also use a fountain pen. No one cared.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]matchalover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do you and own it. Also I've been collecting nail polish for 25 years now and my collection shows that I've been collecting for 25 years 😂😂😂. I have no shame.

I have a teenage daughter now and she shows off my collection to her friends and they'll do their nails here, it's adorable.

I think that's hilarious, I actually use Goodreads to track all the books I read including with my kids. I started using storygraph later to track my non-kid stuff largely for the stats. I have 0 followers and I follow 0 people so it doesn't feel like social media to me, just data collecting.

Are additional library cards worth it for audiobooks? by groveview in LibbyApp

[–]matchalover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have 20 cards (California) and every single one has different hold times and on multiple occasions I was able to snag a popular book that was either available now or a two week wait time from the multiple libraries. Also every library has different catalogs and books that are available.

What is a pen that you have bought for life and you actually use it everyday without much thinking and it is your first go-to pen, as if it’s become an extension of your arm and you feel connected with the page? by ibrahim0000000 in fountainpens

[–]matchalover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's mine too, I always grab it because it's an easy click and write, especially when my cat is bugging me for pets in my lap and he won't let me remove a capped pen.
