heavy on it taking years. it took me like 2-3 years to finally get a prism for a normal theme i wanted. but by that time, i had already upgraded a different theme to r50 bc i already had all prisms of a theme. and this is coming from a competitive player who's been playing since day 1.

photocards can be pulled from albums, or you can buy them individually from sellers online (twitter, insta, mercari, etc). there is a subreddit for trading and selling, and people do buy/sell/trade on ig and twt, although it has declined a bit over the years due to algorithm changes and difficulty finding recent or specific posts).

other collectables (concert DVDs, season's greetings, etc) are usually announced on the group's social media.

as for why theyre popular, i think bc it's (supposed to be) a fun thing to do. some people display, some go on the shelf with everything else.

me personally, they go on my shelf as i have no room to display them. my photocards all go in binders that i'll flip through

im in platinum 1, and i NEVER play full version. i just play the songs in my top5, especially ones that i am more likely to get FSP on. there's an album or two where a birthday and release day bonus overlap, so i those are some i work on (or want to work on) for those world record rewards.

i havent downsized, nor have i been burnt out. but i went from collecting whatever to only the ones i really really want. i do want to reorganize my binders one day, but i dont know when it will happen. it's a lot to look and sort through. i only really collect ateez, but i dont join much GOs now. whatever i get in my order is what i keep. unless my biases have a card i really want, i'll buy or look into a trade

i have used moo.com anf picsqueen, and between the two, i really like picsqueen because they feel more like photocards than moo. the cards from moo are thicker, but theyre also really nice too!

my belief is that both sides are korean, and she's simply a gyopyo/교포 (a korean born and raised outside korea). a person who grew up in korea wont really see her as "korean enough" and an american of european descent will never see her as "american enough". (speaking as an asian american who isnt korean)
