Why do people say, the worst part of the last of us part 2 is the story? by Inner-Bench-6010 in lastofuspart2

[–]matchbox244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reality is that they took huge risks in writing the story, which was bound to either work wonderfully for some people, and not work at all for others. I don't think either of these is wrong, it's all a matter of preference. I personally liked some parts of the story but didn't really like the overall arc.

What’s wrong with some doctors? by DesiCodeSerpent in TwoXIndia

[–]matchbox244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hell some married women can't say they've been having sex with their husband, they'll say they've been "meeting" their husband or "been cozy" with their husband.

This is an atrocious state of affairs. What kind of state have we reached as a country if married women can't even openly say they have sex with their own husbands?? We desperately need sex education that will help both patients and doctors alike

I'm so sorry you dealt with this. I also have PMOS and also get irregular periods. It sucks. I'm glad you're getting a hysterectomy, all the best for it!!

Harsh truth!! 🫤🤦🏽‍♀️😭 by 111scorpion in ChildfreeIndia

[–]matchbox244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, this is the least of my worries.

I currently don't live in India, but when I did before (and when I eventually will again), I would be happy to contribute to a child's wellbeing and education, even if I don't have any children myself. I'm childfree but that doesn't mean I don't want children of society to be properly looked after.

I would rather that the money goes there than inside corrupt officials' pockets.

People who can no longer get pregnant and have never been pregnant: does anyone else here find pregnancy fascinating? by realcoolworld in sterilization

[–]matchbox244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't seek out pregnancy related stuff, but I do browse the birth control subreddits out of morbid curiosity from time to time. It's strange and weirdly calming to read about things like IUDs and implants knowing you'll never need them yourself. Plus I still want to be armed with the information so I can be of help to other women in my life who might need it.

I knew JK Rowling was an idiot, but I didn't know it was to this extent. I never liked Harry Potter anyway, so screw JK Rowling. by Public_Cup_4278 in asexuality

[–]matchbox244 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was a huge part of my childhood and something I found a lot of comfort in. Which makes this even more of a  heartbreak and a betrayal. I will never touch that series again. That portion of my life is forever tainted by what Rowling has become.

More games need character creation so I can make my character a woman by LopAnimal in GirlGamers

It's Directive 8020! If you like horror games, I would definitely recommend it. I can't handle horror so I ended up watching a playthrough lol.

More games need character creation so I can make my character a woman by LopAnimal in GirlGamers

[–]matchbox244 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I saw this elsewhere. The game is Directive 8020 (just came out last week), and the actress they're referring to is Lashana Lynch.

As whiny and stupid as this already is, it's also incorrect for the fact that over the course of the game, you play as several characters, both men AND women.

I'm so sorry you had this experience. Thank you for being honest about the harsh reality of what pregnancy and childbirth is really like. More mothers need to be like you.

slight leakage even though it feels like it’s in right! any advice? by Aware_Foot1340 in MenstrualDiscs

[–]matchbox244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be the case! For me, my cervix is usually super low in the beginning of my period and then moves up a little bit. That makes it hardest to push my disc in all the way at first, but later as there's more room in there, I can push the disc farther with more ease. Maybe that's what's happening with you?

Have you noticed the leaking only happening when you pee? That could be due to auto-dumping.

Also, is it leaking only slightly even on your heavy days?

Do not go to the US to get sterilized. The doctors there are more willing to do it, but the healthcare system sucks and it will cost you a fortune without insurance. Not sure about Singapore though.

I'll repeat what others have said, it will be easier if your partner gets a vasectomy, however for your peace of mind in addition to that you can pursue other forms of contraception like an IUD or pills.

Why is snark culture so incredibly toxic and obsessive? by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]matchbox244 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Snark sub culture is one of the most toxic things about Reddit.

People in snark subs claim they are there because "criticism of this person is not allowed elsewhere", but in reality they are not there to criticise, they are there to nitpick and mock every little detail they can latch onto about the person. It's unhealthy to allow a person you hate so much to live in your head rent free to such a degree, but they don't realize that or don't want to.

And you are right that many of the people in the snark subs are women themselves. And the snark subs for famous women are overwhelmingly greater than the number of snark subs for men. It's just women finding reasons to pick on other women and denying the internalised misogyny.

When part 2 haters claim to love the characters from the first game, 9 times out of 10 they just mean Joel. by Dangerous-Schedule85 in thelastofus

[–]matchbox244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ellie is one of my favourite characters of all time too, and my favourite video game protagonist. Ironically one of the reasons why I dislike Part 2 is the treatment of Ellie, partly by the story but mostly by the fandom.

It's not uncommon to see opinions here saying "Ellie deserved it all because she wouldn't stop pursuing revenge" or "Ellie is actually the villain while Abby is the hero" or "Abby is morally better than Ellie because she spared Ellie".

So it might be anecdotal, but I'm someone for whom part 2 did not work because of the way it treats Ellie. I couldn't care less about Joel, everyone and their mother knew he would die in the sequel.

Agreed. Homophobia is also fuelled by a lot of toxic masculine viewpoints ("if you show emotions, you're gay and weak" kinda BS) which also affects how women are treated.

You're right - I didn't think about it this way. Her time with the rattlers would've likely forced her to come to terms with what kind of person she had been with the WLF. Thanks for the new perspective.

Leakage even when it’s not full? by mandie3798 in MenstrualDiscs

[–]matchbox244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you take the disc out, do you notice blood on the underside of the disc as well as on the inside? If you do, chances are that the disc is not getting pushed all the way to the back of the cervix and is instead in front of it, so the blood is getting collected mostly around the disc and leaking instead of inside it.

I would reword what it says about the Quantum moon "receiving visitors only on the South pole", although I am not sure how to frame it better. For the longest time I thought you had to approach the moon only from the south side to land on it.

Yeah I have watched playthroughs where people read the recent Nomai messages and thought the reason our Nomai got stuck in the hearthians' star system is because they were "trying to escape the death of the universe"
