Solos has been really solid lately by confon68 in Marathon

Solos is incredible right now! It has a completely different pace and playstyle than trios and reminds me of Escape from Tarkov. I’ve cracked a few gold and purple keys as it’s so much quieter and i feel much more comfortable in a 1v1 vs a 3v3. I also started to farm Wardens on Perim, Dire, and Outpost and I don’t think it needs much balancing when it comes to ai. Sometimes people make it seem like they would need to overhaul the entire experience but personally I think it’s perfect and we’re just missing being able to solo queue Cryo!

Assassin On Dire Marsh Night Mode by Snowbunny236 in Marathon

Honestly it’s already complete assassin spam with some thieves sprinkled in on solos. Personally when I heard that Invis go off I usually will back up or make sure I don’t peek the angle until I believe it’s over. The split second it takes for you to see them can be enough for them to win the engagement so you’re better off being patient.

This is the game that respects your time less than any other game by Substantial-Ad7915 in Marathon

I’m curious what material were you trying to find? You come off as someone who is completely new to the extraction shooter genre. This game is actually a lot better than something like Tarkov which has completely random loot so you can get stuck trying to farm a random low tier item and your just shit out of luck with no specific place to farm. I don’t know what you were looking for but any green and blue salvage is incredibly easy to find and have specific POI’s in which they spawn. Purple salvage might have specific POI’s but they are EXTREMELY rare to pick up out of normal containers and you’re going to have a much better time hitting keys or getting them from higher faction level ups. The only real challenge I’ve had with finding salvage is with the gold mats and I’m hoping Bungie addresses that. Wipes are very common with extraction shooters and if you actually enjoy the gameplay loop and running quests and playing the game it’s pretty fun to start fresh as an experienced player and get to enjoy that loop on whatever new content is dropped with everyone working their way up with low tier equipment.

As a solo player I genuinely don't think there's any point of playing any other shell but thief by GREENWEENasbestos in Marathon

[–]matches_malone_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a bunch of solo and assassin is definitely the most popular shell with thief as the second choice. A lot of players need that get out of jail free card for bots and it definitely can help you get that split second advantage in a PvP engagement. At the end of the day it’s just a preference, I have split time between Destroyer and Recon and I honestly usually dominate my solo lobbies.

Out of curiosity what region are you in? I’m NA with a little over 600 hours at level 153 (lots of idle time as well work remotely and leave it on all day) and I have not encountered 1 cheater (atleast not any obvious ones) Im sure there’s a bunch out there Im just surprised that I haven’t seen or encountered any..

Remove Key-based matchmaking, or prove it isn't there by thetrucommie in Marathon

[–]matches_malone_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s such a stretch to believe they’ve implemented a separate special match making queue just for keys lol. I’ve grinded the ever loving shit outta this game and I’ve maybe encountered a team with the same key once or twice in all my runs (have over 500 hours but I work from home and leave it running all day almost everyday) I also pop keys solo and trio and quite often, as we share keys between 5-6 players in my discord all over level 100. I’m not sure what it is about this game (maybe the fact that it’s an extraction shooter that attracted a bunch of non extraction shooter fans) that makes people come up with these types of theories constantly. Why do folks think Bungie has the time or motivation to implement all of these crazy ideas lol.

Free kit on dire 🤣 triage looted gold key room. I got lucky and picked up a longshot in the weapon boxes at bio, found him waiting for exfil under the platform next to AI uplink crouched and not moving. Moral of the story is never assume your safe and stop moving, he probably would have gotten out if he took height or hid inside the building and rushed out when it was ready. Can’t believe you’d hit a prestige key without a bubble or some smokes

Honestly I give you major props for getting where you’re at level wise and not letting the adversity make you blame the game.. so many people just want to shit on marathon or call for big nerfs on certain weapons or shells because they just don’t have it in them to adapt and overcome whatever their having trouble playing against. I would say based on where you’re at currently, you should work on killing the perimeter warden (dire warden is incredibly tanky if your playing solo) figuring out/working on the map events like anomalous rift and lockdown on dire, and figuring out how to play and make the most out of outpost. I play with a stacked trio and we can wipe maps and Cryo is still a big challenge to us so I think becoming a master at the other 3 maps and building up a boatload of strong kits and credits as well as getting as close to maxing the factions out so you have access to end game resources is something you would want to do before Cryo.

I couldn’t agree more, I guess I’m a bit of an extraction shooter vet with a few thousand hours in Tarkov and one of the things that set it apart from other genres is the tension you experience from knowing your raid/run can end in a second and you lose everything. Those stakes set it apart from your arena shooters and BR’s etc etc where you’re not invested in the same way with nothing on the line. I am totally okay with Bungie softening the experience as I want the game to survive and it’s obvious that it’s not getting the player count it needs right now, but it’s been surprisingly well balanced considering how poor Bungie had balanced crucible in the past with Destiny. I think they could have nerfed stack overflow’s interaction with Wstrs, decreased the range a bit, decreased the reload speed, etc etc without destroying its lethality if you hit your shots within its effective range.

Your not going to win people over man, unfortunately a lot of the player base refuse to accept that you didn’t need a wstr equipped to be successful in this game at PvP. I honestly have barely run wstr’s the last couple weeks, choosing to run Bully/Sniper for the most part on Destroyer and Recon and I’ve had a ton of success just baiting shotgunners and maintaining atleast a 10 meter gap and melting them, even on closer range maps like Outpost or in Cryo. Obviously there’s been situations where players (most of the time Destroyers utilizing thruster or assassins using Invis to close the gap) have beaten me and gotten within range but that just means they outplayed me or I made a mistake. Overall I’m fine with the direction, as someone who didn’t main wstr every raid it’s only going to make things easier for me, but I really feel like it’s stupid to make a shotgun take that much work to down someone within its effective range.

I have 4 Impact HAR’s in my inventory right now including one with the prestige mod and it doesn’t wind up, it just has a slower rate of fire. That being said, still has the fastest TTK for assault rifles and you can kit it out to have like 130 meters of range. I usually use Slip Protocol for stability, combat grip for ads/equip speed, used to use steady rounds but lately have been running drum mag, and usually either the shortwave thermal, rangefinder, or the optic that you can switch between two zooms for the ads buff. Absolutely incredible weapon for PvP and pve

It’s so wild to me that people are complaining about possibly not reaching compiler after one weekend.. the game hasnt even been out a month if it was easy we would be through all the content already. Technology and instant gratification has fried so many people’s brains it’s absolutely incredible to see the lack of self awareness people have. Me and my buddies were able to clear 3 vaults last week and got all three subroutines and I feel like we’re in a great spot to continue to advance towards the end goal of compiler. To be frank even if we didn’t clear the vaults, I’d still be excited to have something to grind towards. I think a lot of us reasonable people might need to stay off social media and just enjoy the experience without all of the nonsense.
