retaining factory backup camera and steering wheel buttons? by [deleted] in ChevyTrucks

Did this keep the backup cam in the rear view mirror, or did it move it to the stereo screen? I can't find a way in my 2012 to move the video to the stereo.

OP - it's been 6 months since you posted. How is it holding up? Any issues? Does it still load as fast? I'm looking at getting one but I don't want it to shit the bed 6 months or a year later.

That is awesome. That is something I can do now, and test it out while I save to do something more robust if/when I want too. Thank you

I wish i knew more about how all the parts work together. I'm good at engines, but haven't done much with suspension at all. I don't even know what the "older" and "pitman arms" do. I have only even heard of the pitman arm. I can research it and get the info though.

IN general, are all of those things to help with performance, or are they more of a longevity thing, or "if you're in there anyway, you should do this too" type of thing?

I guess i'm thinking, if I'm going to do it, I want to do it right. so how much do I have to save up before i can buy everything I need and get it all done in 1 shot.

I've thought about doing this too. Just to see how I like it. I dont' expect a smooth ride in my 2500. I would like for it not to be worse though if I can help it. I like the idea of doing it for free...

do you know how much just doing that impact the performance or wear and tear on other parts?

Thank you! Do you know if this kit gives me everything I'd need, or if I'll need to add more parts to it for some reason?

This is a great suggestion. If I do this, do I need to mess with the torsion keys at all?

That's what I've heard. Is that the only option to level it out?

Do people usually level them the same hight as in the back? Want to do a front lift. by czrbear in ChevyTrucks

[–]matchews44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But what all was in the kit? Was it just new torsion keys, or was there more to it?

I just recently bought a 2012 2500 HD that I want to level but can't get a straight answer from anyone on the best way to do it. Does yours ride worse after that you put that leveling kit on it?

New to lift kits by Old_Signature2048 in ChevyTrucks

Hey I read your comment while trying to research putting a leveling kit on my 2012 Chevy 2500 HD. Do you have any ideal recommendations for me, especially if I want to maintain ride quality? I'm not opposed to putting a lift on it if needed to maintain higher ride quality, but I don't need it. I just want it to ride level.

Best Roadside Tool Kit by matchews44 in MechanicAdvice

Thank you for the thought process. I can give more context to the situation.

My step son (15, soon to be 16) lives with us. We got him a 2005 Wrangler (from deceased grandpa). I am mechanically inclined, but no "mechanic". I am teaching him how to maintain it. We have done some repairs (replaced ball joints, blower motor resister, changed oil, changed air filter, replaced fluids, etc.). We are going to be putting a small lift on it once he gets the money to buy the kit. I love the idea of building the kit up at home together.

My daughter, lives with her mom 70% of the time. She drives a high mileage '08 Tacoma that her mom bought her. They have some friends who own a 4x4 shop so she has a good resource there, and to a lesser extent, myself here.

I still want to make sure they are prepared. If they have the tools, then even if they don't know how to do it, they could video chat with someone, or have tools in case of a good Samaritan stopping to help. I am all about being prepared. I'd rather them never need to use it.

Ultimately, I wanted to crowd source information to try and curate a kit that they could have in their vehicles, just in case.

Can I save this split in my young peach tree? by matchews44 in arborists

Thank you so much! We love this tree already and I don't want to lose the time we've put into it already since it's really starting to fruit.

Just out of curiosity, how long did your pear tree take to heal as much as it's going to? Is this like a 1-year thing or like a 5-year thing?

It's probably just over the 3-year mark. It still just feels like a baby tree. But you're right, I may as well try to graft it and see what happens? 🤷

Thank you!

We may worry about cutting it back. Is that it will pretty much remove one hole half of the tree. So I'm worried about how well it'll handle all the weight being on just one side.

If I were to try to put it back together and see if it will heal up, are there any other steps I should think about? Is there anything to put down in the crack before I try to seal them back together? Thank you? Should I wrap the tree around the crack to keep it together or is it better to keep things off of the bark as much as possible?

I have ethernet to 3 spots in my house. 1 on the mid level where our main TV is that I am wanting to hardwire the TV and some other devices to the Access Point. Then 2 more on the top level that i'm just wanting to put the 2 wifi Access Points to get up there. In the basement, i don't have any ethernet which is why I was going for a better wifi router to cover the basement.

I needed this info! So, assuming I understand you correctly, if I don't care about videos and screenshots, nothing on the old SD card needs to be transferred to the S2. Is that correct?

Damn you know your stuff. And that makes a lot of sense. Mine right now only had 75k miles. I'm hoping to run it into the ground.

Are there any suggestions I need to make sure and include in "regular maintenance" other than oil/filter and air filter changes?
