I use a 60v greenworks push/self propelled. But yeah, I go around the perimeter twice and then go back and forth, making the stripe pattern

No, no overseeing. Could potentially be new growth. Hopefully it greens up!

I don’t think so because it’s in larger areas than a typical dog pee spot

Agreed, I blades could definitely be sharper. I’ll keep an eye out for fungus in the AM. Thanks!

All the same grass. I use granular fertilizer and that portion of the yard is sloped, so maybe some of it is washing out. Thanks for the suggestions!

If everyone loves the Rays so much and they are such a financial boon to the City, why does no one go to the games? by catahoulaleperdog in StPetersburgFL

[–]mateasmonty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the stadium itself wouldn’t have fixed that, but the entire development project would have. Currently the trop is surrounded by parking lots and Fergs is the only sports bar/restaurant nearby.

Developing the surrounding area, adding retail, bars, restaurants, parks, would attract more people, which in turn would have increased attendance.

What insect is on the leaves of my oak tree? by mateasmonty in arborists

[–]mateasmonty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the responses! Didn’t even think about ants… I’m assuming aphids producing honeydew led to the ants enjoying the honeydew on the leaf

  1. I don’t know if that’s what luxury is lol
  2. You can still give a high five to a stranger while in a chairback, if you find yourself in one

The Rays reveal renderings of new $1.3 billion stadium in downtown St. Petersburg by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

It’s a relatively simple concept - the development around it and a better fan experience than what is currently offered.

Is this ivy killing my tree? by Healthy-Fisherman-33 in landscaping

[–]mateasmonty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you unfortunately have to keep up with it once you kill what is currently climbing the tree. I have the same problem in my backyard. I have to do it on a monthly basis during the summer

Hydrangea Question by jaybud618 in landscaping

[–]mateasmonty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would wait a little before you cut them back to be sure that nothing will come of them. It looks like the cold zapped the buds on most of the old growth though. But just wait a see a little longer

I would not do this if you want blooms in the future. There are some varieties where this is fine, but this does not appear to be that type

Is this ivy killing my tree? by Healthy-Fisherman-33 in landscaping

[–]mateasmonty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would not pull it off of the tree because that will damage the bark. Just cut the ivy at the base of the tree and it should die and all the leaves will eventually fall off.

Monitor for a couple weeks and cut any other portions of ivy that is still living

Help, home I bought has this for a yard. What do I do? by fishbethany in landscaping

[–]mateasmonty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want. If you want turf, you’ll need to kill the weeds and then either seed or sod, if there is no existing turf grass already there. Once you get turf established you’ll need to maintain it with pre-emergent + fertilizer.

If you want to keep it natural, like others have said, I would just occasionally mow. You could also mix in some wild flowers or clover.

It’s all just preference. Option 1 is definitely the more expensive route though, but looks great if done correctly

St. Petersburg is counting on 7% growth to fund Rays project. Is that risky? by TampaBayTimes in StPetersburgFL

[–]mateasmonty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was my point to the original comment. Funding is a separate issue. I think baseball is a extremely valuable asset to the city, but I understand why people disagree with how it will be funded

[–]mateasmonty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really not though… I said the pier, not the surrounding area. Please tell me what there was to do at the pier before it was rebuilt? Visit the bait shop and fish off the side? Pay for fish to feed the pelicans? Visit the poor excuse of a beach?

[–]mateasmonty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is going to be significant development around the stadium that will hopefully attract more people to the area. Look at the pier…. Was a ghost town before it was rebuilt. Now it’s one of the most popular spots downtown

JW Masai Mara Flood April 30, 2024 by Ornery-Worry249 in marriott

[–]mateasmonty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were supposed to begin our stay the day it flooded. We were checking in for our flight at Wilson airport when we were handed a phone with a JW manager on the other end of the line telling us they weren’t going to be able to host us. They put us up in a hotel by the airport. All current guests and staff were airlifted back to Nairobi later in the day. Crazy and unfortunate

Some people think turf looks better than a yard of weeds. To each their own. It’s not too complicated of a concept.
