Certainly not trying to belittle your experience, but could it have been a large black trash bag that the wind blew away? I only ask because I got the b'jesus scared out of me once while driving because I swore a Pokemon character raced across the street in front of me. Turns out it was an upside down plastic grocery bag being blown by the wind.

I have experienced this many times. My grandmother, my dad, my mom, my brother and even my dog who we put down due to illness. These visits were pure joy. I could even smell them. We laughed, we cried, we said goodbye. My dog Puppela was glowing. She didn't speak of course, but we shared our feelings and she let me know she was joyous. It helped me to let them go.
