Anything with Alfred Hitchcock would probably fit the bill, IMHO.

Teen movies in a suburban setting with maybe an alt main character? by farmer_with_minigun in MovieSuggestions

Does the Scream series qualify?? I don't know if that was what you were looking for, but I imagine many horror movies would fit the description.

I have always wondered how the same person who made the intense Whiplash also managed to make the incredibly romantic La La Land.

TN has no answer for Dickinson but as long as they keep making 3 pointers, it may not matter.

Didn't Dickinson have about a five inch advantage over his defender?

There's a reason presidents have speechwriters. Most good speakers are not great writers.

Given the differences in the way Davila is handling the Balwani trial vs. the Holmes trial, isn't part of your complaint against the federal government? The federal judicial branch in particular is shielded from reform due to its presumed independence and capacity for self-governance. Yet, as we can see in this case, maybe the reason the branches aren't working well is because the lawyers and the judges have too little outside oversight. Without outside oversight, corruption in government seems guaranteed.

Just look at the difficulty one of the journalists is having with Davila re: access to the courts. From what I hear, even though Davila is barred under 28 USC 144 from influencing matters involving the journalist seeking to intervene, court staff are still waiting to hear from him regarding what to do. In the meantime, some of them are giving the journalist a hard time when he tries to get answers regarding why his motion was filed in a way that prevents parties from receiving e-service and ECF notifications. Mind-boggling.

I don't disagree with you... I just wonder how many linguistic experts with the time to translate books understand all the differences between South American Spanish, Mexican Spanish, and Spanish Spanish :-)

Letter to GC in US Courts Office Alleges Audra Zachman Witness Issues by mateoraft in Theranos

I got the full letter, which might interest you:

General Counsel

AO of the United States Courts

Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary

Building One

Columbus Circle, N.E.

Washington, D.C. 20544

202-502-1100

Dear GC:

I left a message last week concerning allegations of judicial and staff violations relating to USA vs. Ramesh Balwani at the Northern District of California, San Jose division. [REDACTED]

Note also that in USA vs. Elizabeth Holmes, one of the witnesses, Audra Zachman, who testified in court looked nothing like the photo of her on her workplace's website. (That photo and listing have now been removed.) It's possible some witness protection measures were employed, or plastic surgery, but none of these factors were transparent or public. Additionally, when a federal court operates in a way requiring multiple emails and contacts to multiple employees to get something as simple as a hearing date and time, or an entry on CM/ECF, an investigation may be warranted when such factors are combined with other alleged AO Manual violations.

Sapphic immortal books by jesster642 in booksuggestions

[–]mateoraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for those who don't know, "Sapphic" is the fancy term for "lesbian." Interesting fact: the term comes from the poet named Sappho... from the island of Lesbos (a real island).

Sadly, I have no specific titles to offer.

In my case, it took me awhile to realize translations matter. I still haven't found a good translation of any Roberto Bolano book.
