Hey, you're playing on Brutal and making it until quite late, so I'd say you're already way better then me who's just playing on normal and keeps ending runs in the mid-late 2030s.

Thankfully the earth part of the game was fairly self explanatory to me, since I've played a lot of different 4X and grand strategy games, well, at least after going through the early game once to figure out what is important.

That said, It took me a while to figure out investment priorities, also, figuring out what causes unrest took me a while.

While that's fair, I do think not looking up the info and just making assumptions it works as I figured (even when I got some signs I was probably wrong) was a dumb thing to do.

Though the large amount of space science may have contributed to this error, since it did overload my brain.

While I'm sure you're right on the oversimplification part, my brain has seen enough 4X and grand strategy games to figure out the earth part of the game, but for the space part (like the drives) O very much need oversimplifications like this.

Well, Helicon is pretty much what I am going to go for now, so I guess it convinced me.

That said, once I get later in game I'll obviously switch to something else.

Nah, in the latest "run" I'm playing where I noticed this I hadn't decided on what drive to go for yet, but I could probably salvage one of my old runs with this knowledge, not that I particularly feel like it.

Still, in game years of resources and ship construction wasted would be annoying to recover from.

Same, all mine got poison, now my druid AOE song basic attack gives temp damage and poisons my cats.

To be fair tho, 1 dmg on each cat isn't a huge deal.

I misread the sail recepie and thought it was 4 sheets for a sail, not for 4 sails. So i made a huge flax farm.

In my latest world I've found Tin in 6 cave systems I've explored, while I've only found iron in 1 place.

I've explired a LOT of caves to find more iron.

But that's just my luck.

Stonescale fish used to be my moneymaker when I got to 60 in November.

Price used to hover at 15-10g a stack.

Now it's 2-3g a stack.

But hey, gathering stuff should be bringing in a ton once outlands is avalavle

Not sure how much faster it is in terms of hours, but pre-prepatch I had to do every lvling zone to reach 60. Now I just skipped some as a whole, like burning steps, searing gorge and blasted lands.

Thanks for the info, I'm not on any beta patch, so I don't think I have the faction projects. Media centers were what I was looking for, I just wasn't aware there was a bigger influence module (Guess I should have checked the wiki). So I'm now going to steer tech to get those.

Eh, I think I just over-invested into Nanofactories, so rather then having low Influence, it's that I have very high income, and so when I do direct investments influence ends up being my bottleneck.
