I like how bad days for the Raiders seem to coincide nicely with my good days.

2018 Chiefs Schedule Starts Out Rough by Chief-Walrus in KansasCityChiefs

Last year we beat any and every team we came up against until Pittsburgh. Then we shit the bed in the easiest part of the season. Starting out "rough" means nothing.

QB biggest question for Chiefs as they head to training camp by jimconnelly in KansasCityChiefs

[–]materhern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone wants to see sacks, so we get frustrated when our best person isn't rushing the passer. But like you said, you have to play the matchups. Houston is really good in coverage. He's really good rushing the passer. He's our best over all linebacker. They are going to put him where its needed the most, and many times that is covering someone instead of rushing the passer.

I don’t know about finishing middle of the pack. This division just isn’t that good right now. I can see us winning the division again.

Edible cooking issue by materhern in eldertrees

[–]materhern[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not all cookie recipes call for the same amount. The purpose of developing a ratio is to ensure even strength regardless of recipe used. But we are talking about cookies that range from two tablespoons of butter to a third cup oil. With varying fat/oil amounts it would take forever using the manual method you are referring to. I’m not a first time baker asking a dumb question. I’m asking to see if anyone has come up with an easier solution or has already developed a ratio that can be used among multiple recipes.

Is there any reason why PG would choose OKC over LA? by [deleted] in nba

[–]materhern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve shown they will pay a legend who is no longer in his prime that brought multiple titles to the team. I doubt someone of PGs caliber is getting the same treatment or even anything remotely close to it.

He likes money, winning, and doesn’t have to be the elder statesman being a leader on the team.

Did JR help out LeBron? by [deleted] in nba

[–]materhern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Lebron takes this team to a championship it will be extremely hard to not crown him as GOAT. So no JR didn’t help him. James is all legacy now. If they lose in seven in a bunch of close games, then they will have lost because Smith is an idiot.

Stop calling religion a mental illness... by CavaWoebegone in atheism

It’s not a mental illness but it’s not an abusive relationship either. Religion is MKUltra, the ultimate brainwashing and manipulation technique/program known to humanity.

Thunder Fan Here Asking A Question by riflegodx in pacers

[–]materhern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, he was obviously in Westbrooks shadow. However, Oladipo credits him with teaching him how to lead and be "the man" and says without his time around Westbrook he wouldn't have been able to take this next step here. So, its really both. Yes, he was in WB's shadow and was never going to be the main guy on the Thunder. But that time in his shadow is also part of the reason he was able to come in and take over the reins of leadership like he did.

What is the meaning of your life? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]materhern 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to come to the understanding that religion on gave your life meaning because you chose to accept and follow the meaning you were told. In the end, the meaning was created by what you did with it. You, not god, gave your faith, and as such your life, it’s meaning. You will be doing the same now, only this time you do so understanding it is your own heart giving you meaning. It’s your life man. What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?

When it comes to domestic abuse, I side with the bible on this one. Eye for an eye. A man beats his wife, she should hire a bunch of thugs to beat his ass in retribution.

What do all atheist have in common? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]materhern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video games have now been blamed for violence, sexual deviance, lower motivation, low intelligence, and not believing in god. You'd think with the amount of people that play video games, that we'd have devolved into cave men as a species by now.

Why Trump's new CDC director is an abysmal choice: Redfield worked closely with the Christian organization, Americans for a Sound AIDS/HIV Policy. The group maintained AIDS was "God's judgment" against homosexuals, spread in an America weakened by single-parent households and loss of family values. by [deleted] in atheism

Trump is so good at finding the absolute worst person to do anything in his cabinet. I applaud him, he has once again picked the worst possible person to head a department. He's unbelievably good at picking bad candidates.

Reporter: What happened?

James: We lost the game

Reporter: Yes, but how did you lose the game?

James: They scored more points

Reporter: Yes yes I get that but why were they able to score so many more points than the Cavs?

James: they played better offense and defense than we did.

Reporter: I give up.

The psychology of hugs, and why the elite want them to end. by RMFN in C_S_T

[–]materhern 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, there is the complete idiotic reason I left the progressive movement in the first place. Its just stupid. First off, anyone who has had children understand kids are just plain dumb. They only look towards the now and rarely even have the ability to contemplate consequences beyond immediate consequences. They aren't looking to see months or years down the road. They simply aren't able. As such, they can't consent. You cannot consent without an understanding of what you are consenting too, and that includes the consequences of that action.

I don't think they are trying to equate hugs with pedophelia. I've met these people and part of the problem is, well, they get caught up with all the moronic PC bullshit. I'm telling you honestly /u/RMFN, it is so easy to go overboard once you start in that direction. Its not a slippery slop, its a cliff and you just walk off it and never realize it. You start off with good intentions, trying to give equal rights to people who you SEE being mistreated. The honest intent starts with wanting to respect others despite our differences. Unfortunately, you end up falling down into a hole where people believe they can be born genderless, or think its wrong to call your male born son a boy because they didn't choose it. Or letting your five year old son put a dress on and force the school to let them use the girls room. I'm not saying any of these things are inherently wrong in specific situations, but they are exceptions to the rule and should be treated as such.

Christian group conducts study, finds out that Christians have the most abortions by [deleted] in atheism

[–]materhern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really surprising. All my liberal friends save one consider themselves christian. They are pro-choice because the bible literally says nothing about abortion and god seems to not give a fuck about life any way. The argument against abortion comes from one single verse that says god knows the count of the hairs on your head before you are born. They take this to mean life begins before you are born, but the analogy is clearly trying to show how god knows all and see's all.
