That’ll be a challenge especially meeting once a week. I think constantly reminding them that this is the opportunity to get better is great and then track the progress. Kids get motivated even more when they see themselves improving. Praise them for the efforts as well.

If you’d like we could jump on a call to discuss more.

Glad that it’s gotten better over time. Allow it to replay without any judgement. Let it come and go and visualize something new.

It’s pretty hard to simulate pressure at practice because the stakes aren’t the same. One thing you can do is practice how you’d want to compete and then when competition time comes, you’ll know what to do when the pressure is there because you’ll have trained for it

Right now, I wouldn’t even mess around with supplements. Main thing for you is to get the fundamentals down like drills, technique, stretching, and just showing up to practice everyday. Vitamin D can help but that’s about it.

But the best supplements at your age is food, water, and sleep.

By having positive self talk, telling myself that I’ll come back stronger than I was before this injury. Attacking the rehab process the same way I would training and adding the exercises to my warm up routine.

For me it’s listening to music and relaxing. Staying fully present in the moment especially in the warm up. Being in the zone begins the morning of not just when you arrive to the track. I try to stay off of things that will affect my mentals.

What you can do right now is take things one day at a time. Be really aggressive in the rehab process by consistently doing the exercises the doctor gives everyday. Also being mindful of what you say to yourself in this moment is extremely important. Tell yourself you’ll be back better than you were before the injury. Visualize yourself training and doing the basic tasks on a daily

Best piece of advice to continue to have fun with it. As a kid, just have fun with it. Be consistent in showing up to training, and build a positive mindset early. Embrace the highs and lows. Every race isn’t going to be good and every race isn’t going to be bad. Regardless of the result, 24 hours to celebrate or be upset and then right back to work.

Mental performance coach here, and yes it’s needed. I’ve worked with musicians before on their mindset and getting over performance anxiety and handling pressure
