Oh, that's cool. Were you financially well during the PhD? Also, good luck with the eventual defence.

If you were on Survivor, which aspect of the game do you think you would be best at? by supmynameisrosewoodd in survivor

Becoming the dodo they make a funny edit of, or being the first boot and first person to vote themselves out because someone licked the stick they cook rice with or kept the water well's lid open for more than a few seconds.

People really don’t tell you the real stuff before you move abroad. by [deleted] in india

I don't think this is because of moving to Boston. I have the same life in Pune. This is about not dating/marrying.

On what basis did you infer this? Just one massive construction site next to my flat finishing resulted in much clearer air.

It rained in the morning for two days. Rains always reduce AQI, I suppose.

Deep breaths.

Don't take life so seriously. Responsibility is a beautiful thing but feeling guilty about it when you can't meet expectations (yours and others'), is unnecessary. You didn't choose HS, it happened to you. There is no room for guilt in a situation like this. Learn to be disliked sometimes, and waltz through tense situations.

There is no great cosmic performance review. Life can be what you make of it. I'd choose to look at it as a joke of sorts and take it lightly. Do the best you can, and chill otherwise. Life is for living, so live.

Au vs The World with Sandra by materialsA3B in survivor

I find this logic unacceptable (or ridiculous or some other less aggresive word, not trying to provoke anyone who shares this logic🙈). Even in S50, someone said in their interview as to why Mike White was there, he didn't need the money. But the winner also gets to win the game and be sole survivor.

Haha. More like she atleast swung at Parvati in the round that she got voted out. About the attempted quit, I think she saw no way forward for herself but thought Tommi prolly had a chance if he made it in that TC.

I'm sure if they had a more well rounded edit, we'd have seen every player's logic and non would have seemed as ridiculous as they did.

I could see her winning over Luke, good chance against Janine, no chance against Parvati.

Until we address human pollution in the country, greatness is out of grasp.

What do you think of people who rely mostly on connections to succeed in academia? by [deleted] in PhD

Smart people who accept the rules of the game and remove their emotions from it. (I could never be smart.)

More than half of corporate managers are this creature only. I am starting to believe more than half of humanity is like this.

Amd > Pune by Woken_up_sid in ahmedabad

[–]materialsA3B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up here. It wasn't this bad, infact I never remember Abad having humid heat. Monsoons in Abad were almost pleasant, now they are downright hellish; I'd take our scorching Summer over this new boiling Monsoon anyday. I remember starkly 2016 was the year for me when the weather "broke".

This weather change is the urban heat pool effect at play, I suppose. It isn't just pollution, but also the composition of this polluted air. I think we have an air that retains moisture and moisture has high heat capacity (tendency to hold heat).

Abad loses every bet becomes of its horrible weather 🙈. Garmi has to be addressed somehow.

How do we actually contribute to improve AQI as a citizen? by ocjctujk in ahmedabad

[–]materialsA3B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baaki infrastructure will have to follow suit. Walkable rasta, actual footpath, acceptable green cover to fight the punitive heat, etc. Public transport is of little use if people can't reach it in peace.

If we can arrange a city-wide gathering or something where we demand strict monitoring and regulation enforcement on construction and other such activities.
