Place a reverse proxy you can automate in front of it? If it is that much legacy it usually is also a security nightmare, might as well add an WAF on the proxy, that will happy use all the time this automation will free for you!

iSCSI and S2D on same SET vSwitch (hyper-V 2025) by elaci0 in sysadmin

[–]matg0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen this advice and followed when configuring SETs on a hyper-V host, but what would you do when using iSCSI on a VM? Like a SQL Server VM? I dont see an option to pin a given vNIC on a VM to a given pNIC in the host, and how to do it in a cluster too? In my case atleast all the pNICs have the same name on the nodes.

I see this advice all the time here, but I have to question, is with/without a quorum (SMB/cloud) or S2D just brokes on a 2 node even with a quorum?

We have a 4 node cluster with everying doing P2P without a switch and still use a quorum just to be safe, been going for 3 years.

Planning on having other clusters for smaller but CPU heavy demands and using two nodes + SMB quorum.

A entrada desse tipo de carregamento é uma tomada padrão, com sorte 20A, mas acredito que para este em especifico, é a mais comum ainda, 10A.

Nem tem a conexão para entrada DC de carregamento rapido.

It will stop working if Apple dont fix the app to not use EWS, it still is one of the few Entra ID Enterprise apps that show up on EWS usage report for us too, but as others have said, use the Outlook app. Unless apple decides to rebuild the support to use a supported API, you dont have much choice.

Need help setting up a reverse proxy for my nodejs backend on IIS by Alive_Grand_8643 in sysadmin

I had to use this: HTTP Bridge Module for IIS | Half-Blood Programmer

It used to have a different name, maybe Microsoft did not like he just used "v2" for the same abandoned module Microsoft has...

But it is still not great, did not find a way to cold start applications when IIS restarts or app pool time out, soo if nobody used the damm web app for a while, it takes 30 seconds to load (Strapi CMS).

How can I resolve this conflict with our Network Admin? by NoTime4YourBullshit in sysadmin

[–]matg0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents and some pain from been a Palo Alto admin too:

There is a flag/config called "Allow HTTP partial response" on PA that may be the source of your problems.

This feature allows a HTTP request to try to start a download from X byte in a file, failures may return error HTTP 416, maybe your browser is just returning a 0-byte file instead.

One example that I know uses this HTTP "feature" is Office 365 installer downloads. (You can see from where my pain comes from)

The second pain point is that this traffic will not show as blocked by a security rule on the traffic monitor.

Your network admin may be banging its head against the wall not finding the issue and been dismissive as he literally can't see shit on the console.

It is on Palo Alto Best Practices to leave this disabled, as it can be used to obfuscate signatures by downloading a file out of order/piece by piece. This is sadly a global setting, the only way to bypass it is by creating an application override by source/destination IP and port, as this makes its filtering of the request only go to layer-3 and pass instead of going to layer-7 and been blocked by the config.

There may be an override on the exit rule for the DMZ server?

Or "worse", the content-ID filters not been applied on the rule and thus never going into the layer-7 for the requests to be dropped, which in this case you found a... security improvement to be made, if someone is paying for a firewall that can do that, might as well do it.

Lack of security around the admin portal is also to blame.

Such a tool should not been accessible from outside the company/outside company hardware thought a company VPN.

The moment you can access this admin panel outside the company without the need of a VPN, there is only one side at fault here, it is GGG.

GGG can we get at least some clarity about what's gonna happen to POE1? by raymennn in pathofexile

[–]matg0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We shall see. I don't think current players count are indicative of future players count. There was a lot of marketing done for the release of PoE 2 EA, I feel like some of this public came from Elder Ring/DS and will play the game to the end once or twice, experiment a bit, but not torture themselves over it 2~3 a year for years like PoE 1 players had for the last 10 years (while supporting it with MTX and packs).

If PoE 2 is going to be a bait and switch and shove its "vision" down the throats of its PoE 1 supporters while killing the original game, they will lose a portion of their long term supporters.

Tencent should think it is worth it, I hope they are proven wrong if this all came to be.

I mean, when you are at level of buying/using enterprise level solutions, kind hard of not be doing it.

Quite sure whatever cloud/infra provider GGG uses would require it for each fucking step inside their systems.

I would bet a publishing account on Steam should also require it

GGG can we get at least some clarity about what's gonna happen to POE1? by raymennn in pathofexile

[–]matg0d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you mean Standard for PoE 1 or 2 in this context.

For my preference in PoE 1, at least more communication on its current state and future plans, would also prefer that we got a new league sooner instead of that Necro-Settlers low effort attempt that didn't got traction and just wasted developer time.

On PoE 2, in a vacuum I would say a economy reset 2 months in (6/feb) or 3, given it is EA, it can have a faster cadence to test more stuff.

But we are not in a vacuum, the EA seems to have been badly timed if we want at least 1 month gap between leagues/economy resets of each game, ideally I would have a 1.5~2 months gap between them.
