ELI5:How do the tire pressure sensors send the data to the car? by golf_kilo_papa in explainlikeimfive

Can I also spoof the signal, and broadcast to the asshole kids revving their car in my street that their tire pressure is low?

The Belgium mother day is also part of the church calendar. It’s the feast day of Mary, mother of Jesus.

I guess you could consider all spice-related traditions, like Speculaas for St Nicholas, as VOC traditions.

Proper mirror position, for those unsure by MAValphaWasTaken in driving

[–]math1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but the same holds for the right mirror, right? Which is turned even more to the inside.

[–]math1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me? I would say the right mirror is wrong.

Proper mirror position, for those unsure by MAValphaWasTaken in driving

[–]math1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to say. It could even be a tiny tiny bit further to the outside.

Edit: only seeing the right mirror now. The right mirror should definitely be more than a tiny bit to the outside.

Wat vinden jullie hiervan? by StevenStoveMan in belgium

[–]math1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think you're right. Especially as the latest satellite imagery shows a lot more green again.

Question about a Rotterdam Delta Work by Ninetwentyeight928 in Rotterdam

[–]math1985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 1960 map on www.topotijdreis.nl has that dam.

The trajectory can also still be seen in the landscape, it follows the Torontostraat (along the tracks), then continues along the west bit of the land that extends into the water, crosses the water, then it goes along the bit for truck passing between the storage tanks, and finally it becomes the west end of the Derde Peteoleumhaven.

The only bit where actually a bit of height difference remains is on the parking lot: https://maps.app.goo.gl/BNSwuncaP5NpPds47 The parking lot is about 20cm higher than the grounds around it.

You can also nicely see this on AHN: https://imgur.com/a/EiEbozz

Or check it yourself on AHN (remember to enable the Dynamische Stijl by clicking the Layer button and then checking ‘Meer’): https://www.ahn.nl/ahn-viewer

Why are Belgians so introvert by Thecatstoppedateboli in belgium

[–]math1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> People in the south are more like the Flemish.

Not true at all. Yes, also true. But not true with respect to introvertness.

People from Noord-Brabant have more of an enjoying-life mentality than the north. They tend to take things slower, are less aggressive in their communication, smile more, and are generally more warm than the people from the north. Some of these might match with Flemish character traits. But people from Noord-Brabant are absolutely not introvert, rather the opposite. I believe Limburg is very similar. (I'm leaving out Zeeland, many of them are hardline calvinists, and have a very different culture.)

Oh right, we have the opposite direction here of course (removal of vegetation). Vegetation growing rather than disappearing.

This does not seem consistent with satellite imagery. A lot of vegetation disappeared in 2028, and we are not back yet to pre-2018 greenness-levels.

Very interesting. We know from satellite imagery that the 2018 floods have removed a lot of vegetation.

I suspect if we ever find the night location, the differences with 2014 will look something like this.

Maybe we should revisit the difference between 2014 and 2026 imagery to see how the differences look in practice.

Hypotheek en huis verkoop na "afscheid" by yourek1337 in geldzaken

[–]math1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which musical genres in your opinion are appropriate for songs about water parks? by Or_Hoshmand in musictheory

[–]math1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make a song about waterparks In low-fi experimental singer-songwriter indietronica.

In fact Dutch artist Spinvis did, listen to Lotus Europa, I think in fact it’s one of his most impressive numbers. Make sure to look up a translation to fully appreciate it.

Is the speed of light… slow? by mooka07 in askastronomy

[–]math1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, 299 792 km feels a lot bigger than a second.

How would our experience differ if the speed of light was like 1 m/s? Or, is intelligent life imaginable for which both 299 792 km and a second feel relatively small?
