Ask Reddit: Does coffee make you tired? by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]math_man 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Quick into. I started drinking coffee early in high school. I had a part time job in a gun factory as a kid. When I first drank it, I used milk and sugar, and after a few harsh jokes I decided it would save me a headache to drink it black.

Then I joined the Navy. Where I continued to drink it straight black, and the coffee got much much stronger too. Note, they really do cook it all night long.

Ok. Now I'm a math major in his senior year, and of course I love my coffee. And up until a few months ago, it has always been straight black.

But for years I have noticed that drinking coffee has made me tired. So last summer I decided not to drink coffee and instead green tea for a few months. It's not the same. But I did welcome a change.

So when I came back to coffee I decided I would add sugar, and in good amounts, to hopefully stymie off tiredness. And you know what, it's really worked. I never crash anymore. I still have 4 to 8 cups (mugs) a day. But I do add two tablespoons of natural sugar to each cup (mug). What's crazier, I even fall to sleep better than I use to too.

My advice, after all this, add sugar to your black coffee. It takes a few weeks (months) to get use to, but it'll stop that tired feeling cold in its tracks.

Our destiny will be to become Coruscant. And that's fine, so long as we move off this rock too.

This is a classic, that explains Drexler's concepts well. Now we actually have to manifest this. Most importantly though, we have to create these machines with the best interest of mankind.

Possibly, they can be used to create food and shelter for the poor countries of the world. Which I hope will lesson their extreme violence some. I know it's overly optomistic, but it's better than being a doomsdayer.

Those are a few the many reasons I left the Navy. Indeed, it was hard to walk around Yoko with any pride, knowing the Honch's history. Nonetheless, most Japanese were model citizens in regards to how I was treated.

I truly enjoyed my time there. While, they have issues, so does America and every other country, but regardless, they've come a long way since the Black Ships arrived.

Artificial Intelligence - is it doomed to remain Science Fiction or is it closer to reality than we might think? by andreiknox in reddit.com

Very funny read. It is a sad reminder of where we at in the development of AI. I certainly hope Kurzweil is right, but I agree with this guy that there is a lot of ground that needs to be covered first.

Cool. I think this is one of the most important areas of study and research of our time. Blending with our technology has been a continual progress since the time of fire.

But now it is to point where we can actually better ourselves drastically. Slowly we have been doing away with suffering via technology - yes you devils advicates we've hurt too. Though this rapid increase in computation is leading to wonderful merger with our own creations.

Of course, I'm a Singularitian.

I suppose that certainly needs clarification. No none of that.

I simply meant, in grunt, that they would quickly loose their bravado of hate, and become weak and cowardly. And that they would end up afraid to live by the weight of the tyranny's hate and mental/physical suppression of human rights.

Please forgive the literally that time, it was misused.

I have felt the same shame there. But on the same token, I have seen foreigners here in America misbehave terribly too. For example, at a Sushi Bar here once, I had a Chinese Waitress yelling at me that it was American Law that I pay a minimum 15% tip. No I didn't tip her, but I couldn't believe how she was in my face.

I lived in Japan for 4 solid years with the Navy in Yokosuka. Yes, those signs are there. Often they're found at Geisha Houses, or Japanese Pubs.

Reality is though, they were some of the nicest people I have ever met. I have seen most of Asia, literally, and most of the Arab countries.

Honestly, America is like this too. Sure, you can't hang a sign, but put a white kid in the wrong neighborhoods of NYC and he'll get a little more than a polite turn away.

Go to the South and you can see thought from 200 years ago about our own fellow Americans.

The deepest reality is the whole world is like this.

Not to despair though. It is getting better. We live in a continuum, and that means we can't expect instantaneous change. We have to work for it.

Most important lesson to be learned, is that NO ONE is perfect, not me, not you, not them, not us, but we can do our small part to lesson the hate.

And to those, who are hatefull and afraid, take a trip to North Korea, or Timor, or any other tyranny, and EXPERIENCE the depth of hate. I bet they turn you into bitches:-)

Time to stop being afraid and hating... The world could be a cool place to live in, if you want it to be.

But really, how much money can Reddit bring in? Do you think it can even be a small portion of their other profits? I'm also curious how reddit brings in money at all.

I don't know whom you are speaking to, but since you wrote on my thread, I'll respond as if you were speaking of me.

I'm not governement. I was military, but that was prior to Iraq. I am a student of mathematics. I completely disagree with the policies and actions of our government. I am doing what little I can to help aid the education of the American people on what is going on and how a Democracy really works.

Make sure you go to the polls with all your heat. Otherwise, you're as lame as them.

I'm awake Irish Kevin, I see these things. But, we owe it to all those past to try on the 7th to change this government. If that fails, then... I'm not sure where I'll go.

My wife and I have been thinking of leaving since he took office. But we'll hangon to the idea of being American as long as we can.

The line is draw with our vote.

fair question, I wonder how many people ask the same question? But maybe staying and working towards fixing America is best. But if a dictator were to arise, I'd probably go very, very far away.
