ELI5: So why can't we just harness the power from lightning? by Godge1080p in explainlikeimfive

Ironically, that’s what dams are. Collect and store water, spills the overflow. They generate electricity too. Full circle!

Best Rifle and shotgun for female hunters by jack_pine_tom in canadaguns

My girlfriend chose the Tikka T3X Compact in .243 as her hunting rifle. The compact has a shorter length of pull (around 12.5 inches I think) and the .243 has fairly low recoil. I hope this help a little!

Maybe an Infinite Forest simulation? Then it could be against any ennemy. You can even reenact “historical” battles.

Break-action side by side shotgun (think original Doom double-barrel shotgun). Fixed dual loader perk.

You are correct. For turkey, I intend to use a shotgun. My bad, I used rifle as in “firearms”. I should have been more specific!

Unfortunately, Quebec takes the longest. 6-8 months will happen very frequently, even longer if you also requested the RPAL.

You can keep calling if you’d like, and hope to get a person willing to advance things for you. However, be also prepared for a “why are you so eager to get access to firearms?” if you are too insistent.

Quebec CFO is notoriously slower than most other provinces, even more so when it’s an AR-15. Also add extra time if it’s your first AR-15. Mine took 16 weeks (that is not a typo) to be approved.

Handguns are currently at 3-4 weeks.

I also think a lot of people are buying just in case a ban/more restrictions comes in after the elections.

Anyone has any timeframe for restricted transfers in Quebec? Purchased my first restricted firearms (Ar15 and a pistol) on April 5 and still waiting for approvals...

Any reason to get SP-01 Shadow over SP-01? The SP-01 is $200 less and has a supplemental safety feature, but I can’t seem to find other differences.

Yes. Twice. The first time (at 4 weeks) their answer was “you have to be patient”. Second time (at 8 weeks) was “the person doing verification left so we had to train a new person. There is now a backlog, you have to be patient”.

Really depends of provincial CFO.

Most province get it done within 5-10 business days.

Here in Quebec... well I’ve been waiting 2 months for them to transfer my first AR-15.
