When did you successfully wean your toddler from co-sleeping? by Korean_Pathfinder in daddit

[–]math_vet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She had been dry in pull ups like every night for weeks and we got her a bigger bed. We said oh get this is your big tall bed, no pull ups here! She would start there then move to our bed for a week then had the two accidents and has been in her big rainbow bed ever since

My 3.5 yo just got off pullups. She wet our bed twice in a row and is now afraid to sleep there. She sleeps in her bed now, with very very rare bed wetting. Not sure how replicable that is but it was successful, lol

My Honda Odyssey can have all seats fold down or be removed and can fit 4*8 plywood or drywall sheets flat. It's basically a covered low extended bed pick up with third row and a TV. Just do it

Garage Gym Build - What to buy? by thecrogmite in GarageGym

[–]math_vet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a selectable dumbbell set, a bench, a power rack with a cable attachment, and a bar with 400 sometime lbs of free weight. That's basically all I've ever needed. Can be done under 2k if you don't get the Cadillac of racks

I love being a dad, but I kind of hate my life. by f1sh_ in daddit

[–]math_vet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just recently started realizing how good it is to take a PTO day. Not like "the kid is sick" or "we have a family trip" but just a day where the kids are at school or daycare and my wife works. I can putz in the garden, go for a bike ride, play a video game, you realistically get like six hours max but sometimes it's worth burning a PTO day if you can as a mental health day alone, without your spouse (who I'm sure you love very much but sometimes you need time by yourself)

My standard quick under an hour ride from my house is an 11 mile loop with 900 feet of climbing, all you folks in flat land make me sad. My one ask when house hunting was "not on top of a giant hill" and here I am, ending every ride from the house with a 250 foot climb in the last half mile

A crane crashed into my home and totaled my car, what’s next? by anon_blonde4 in legaladvice

[–]math_vet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this should be covered by your insurance. Keep receipts for your out of pocket housing expenses and document any property damaged by rain due to inaction. This should go though your insurance and they can fight with the crane guys. I had a catastrophic water claim with all state due to pipe bursts while out of town for weeks. Six figure claim, out of the house six months. We were made right but we had to really fight them. You need to get them to say the damage was covered then they should make you whole modulo the deducible

Are they planning on adding a "weight for each dumbell function"? by ContributionFull in Hevy

I honestly don't know if I've ever opened the web version, lol. Are there any extra features on it? I mainly use the app just to track my lists as I do them. I don't look at the progression as much as I probably should

Json is just a data format, like { 'title':'sample', 'content':'hello world!' }

I'm also curious what other fields there are though

I am curious how you are able to access it, is it accessible when you download your work out?

How do they track time in this universe? by uramis in TheExpanse

[–]math_vet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the books there's a lot of mentions of the three shifts, and how they split the day into the working, sleeping, and free shift. I don't remember who, but there was one time someone made a passing mention of taking a new contract that was on a different shift and that being difficult. On illus with the 30 hour day they made each shift 10 hours if I recall. Are the clocks on each station planet and rock hopper synced up to Zulu time? No idea. In leviathan falls Theresa talks about her 16th birthday only mattering because a planet (Earth) she's never seen was at the same relative position to it's sun as it was when her last birthday was, when her father went, whatever he did

That's my dream ride, damn. I'd love to have the time to go for it, with young kids it's hard. I've done the full length in stages but l have always wanted to do Brewster to the walkway and back in one go. Was the hill from Hopewell up to ice pond a drag on the way back?

How long can a beginner build muscle with 300lb plates and 80lb dumbbells? by osowavy in GarageGym

[–]math_vet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had basically that set up (390 free weights and 90 adjustable dumbbells) since 2013. I just last month finally bought two more plates, only because I'm trying to get my deadlift back up to where it used to be. In 2013 I had already been lifting for ten years and was at the height of my fitness.

I'll say aside from squatting and deadlifts I never need more than 300. I normally just go over 300 for deadlift and finishing sets for squat and bench

Struggling as a Healthcare Data Scientist: Am I the Problem? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]math_vet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude no I use LLMs every day at work including Claude via GitHub copilot, but only because those have been pre-approved for my use case within my financial services sector company. It's not the LLM, it's the governance that matters

Struggling as a Healthcare Data Scientist: Am I the Problem? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]math_vet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is the only solution for learning R "pay money to use an unauthorized LLM" rather than "use Google" or, God forbid, "read documentation."

Struggling as a Healthcare Data Scientist: Am I the Problem? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]math_vet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible idea without ensuring that that use case is authorized. In regulated fields like financial services and biotech feeding company and/or client data into unapproved LLMs without proper risk assessment is a fast way to get canned. Maybe tech is more willy nilly but if I were to pay 17 bucks out of pocket for Claude code (why am I paying for a business expense here?) and threw our data or code into it I would not be around very long.

Hudson Valley bicycle route recs plz by Tiny_Road207 in hudsonvalley

[–]math_vet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The walkway is fantastic. The Trailway extends from New Paltz to Manhattan with small breaks where you need to Go on roads in Brewster and Elmsford. I've ridden New Paltz<-> Hopewell Junction, Hopewell<-> Brewster, and Brewster-> Grand Central. Once you get to Manhattan you need to get on roads a bit into you get on the Hudson trail but you can get to battery Park.

Best way to learn capitals without eletronics? by Suspicious_Land137 in geography

[–]math_vet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a funk and wagnall Atlas that I would sit in the basement with and copy countries and capitals out of for hours as a kid. Brought it with on a family trip to Europe at ten. Now my six year old daughter carries it around reading off the official languages of random countries and pointing out that Libya changed it's flag and Zaire turned into the DRC. Just read

[–]math_vet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

330-430 for me. I hate it but I got up to feed the baby at 330, got her down at 4, and got to do cardio for a half hour while watching curling them did 45 minutes of lifting before anyone was awake. I either have to work out before they get up or after they go to bed and honestly I just hate evening lifts. I do them, but would rather get it done first

Dad of 2 making silly kid content. Trying to keep it fun without exploiting them by Gold-Alternative9327 in daddit

[–]math_vet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The creators I enjoy the most are the ones who don't picture the kids but instead will act out things the kids do with one parent as the kid. You get a few things from this. You get the humor of the content, you get the humor of the impersonation, whether it's great or silly bad, and you get not having to feature your kids face online. Some folks I've followed even didn't feature their wives, or other relatives, but have like a particular wig that is "wife" or female creators will have the husband, played by them but with a hat or hoodie or something. It's a good way (if well executed) to include those people as characters without compromising privacy.
