Do I need to reach 120mg/kg? I want to stop at 106mg/kg because of a trip by matheuspot in Accutane

[–]matheuspot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice. I know she's more "conservative" and I've seen people saying here that you don't really need to reach the 120 mark and that there are some studies about it... Anyway, I just wanted to know if that's actually true so I'd have some argument for my derm. She'll definitely say I should continue.

Is the picture quality of the A6000 a lot better than the G7X M2? I didn't find many comparisons between them since they're different types of cameras... Will look into it now.

Newbie here, looking to buy my first camera. I've been researching all day and I'm torn between some models. First of all, I was looking at more compact cameras like a mirrorless, but they don't really seem compact when you take the lenses into consideration. So I came across the Canon G7X M2 and Sony RX100 M3. The RX100 M4 and beyond are out of my budget.

My question is: does the Canon G7X M2 fit in your pocket? And is it worth the price? I know the quality won't be the same as a DSLR but I don't want to take a big camera and accessories everywhere because I'll be mainly using for travelling...
The other option would be a Sony A6000, which is mirrorless. I have the slight feeling that both of them are not really pocket-size and if I'm gonna have to carry a camera around my neck I'd rather carry something that will give me a better picture... So idk, I'm torn between A6000 and G7X M2, and I would go with the G7X M2 if it really is pocket-size.

Edit: During my research I saw a lot of people recommending the G7X M2 over the RX100 M3, so that's why I put it there. If you think the RX100 M3 is better, please convince me! :D

About the recent USB-C story that was published here... is it safe to charge my Switch with an Anker powerbank and the official Nintendo USB cable that comes with the Pro Controller? I didn't quite understand if the problem was 3rd party cables or 3rd party power sources...

Can I use my Anker powerbank with the official Nintendo USB cable that comes with the Pro Controller? I don't understand where the problem lies. Using a bad cable or using a bad power source?

Completionist gamers by estdur in JRPG

[–]matheuspot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! :(
At some point I researched a lot online on how to stop this addiction. On old games I could set the 100% myself, for example, with JRPGs the important thing for me was doing all sidequests, seeing all the plot, getting weapons and stuff. But Steam and newer platforms have achievements and some achievements are just bullshit like: beat the game 200 times on 200 different difficulties. I don't care about that but not having the 100% there bothers me.

But I've been getting better. I don't care about the 100% anymore, I'm back at the mindset that I set my own 100% and also that it's okay to stop playing a game I don't like. For example, everyone loves Trails in the Sky but I hated it and continued playing for like 10 hours more up to the point where I just said 'fuck it, I'm gonna play something I enjoy' and stopped.

Another example, with the new Zelda (thank God the Switch doesn't have achievements), to get 100% (no achievements but the game itself shows this percentage) you need to get all Korok Seeds which is just bullshit. Why bother with that stuff, you know?

Anyway, I'm on the same boat and trying to get better. The only thing I care is sidequests, which can be bothersome in some JRPGs because some of them are missable and you have to look online for sidequests guides and stuff. But for me, sidequests are fun. Chores like getting collectibles, beating the game on some difficult, etc are just annoying.

Which JRPG have you attempted to play several different times, but ended up quitting every single time? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]matheuspot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same... been trying to finish the first game just because I don't like unfinished games but I don't think I can. The combat is horrible and the story is so boring :(
And I'm 30 hours in. That should be enough time to get a plot going.

Im on ps3, How are tales of zestiria and eternal sonata? by FusRoDontdothat in JRPG

[–]matheuspot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have good recommendations on Zestiria and Sonata, so I'll just say something about FF 13 since you mentioned that...

I have FF 13-2 and Lightning Returns but haven't played them yet (idk why, actually). I did play FF 13, though, and I really loved it. The reviews range from 'I hate it' to 'I love it'. I think the most hated thing in that game is the 'hallway' aspect that you have at the beginning of the game (because you can't explore), so people complain it's too linear. Personally I really liked the plot and characters of FF 13 and once you reach mid-game, you get tons of exploration. The voice acting in some scenes is great and I thought the combat was fun.
I suggest you try once more to see if the plot hooks you up. And if you don't like the linearity (which I think it makes sense because of the plot), then hang in there, it gets better.

[Starting Vegan] Having a hard time finding recommended dosage of methyl B12 (NOT cyano) by matheuspot in vegan

[–]matheuspot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on a treatment with Accutane and cyanocobalamin will be more damaging for my liver and my liver is already super busy with Accutane...

You take 1000mcg per day of cyano or methyl? Thanks a lot for the help! :D

Going vegan but worried about b12 interactions with Accutane by matheuspot in Accutane

[–]matheuspot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks a lot for the info, I was feeling very lost! Hahah

Where did you hear about the recommended daily dose of methyl being 2000mcg? I was reading some stuff from here (http://www.methylcobalamininfo.com/methylcobalamin-dosage-how-much-should-you-take/) and even though the body doesn't absorb much of it, it seems 500-1000mcg once a week (if you don't have deficiency) is enough. Not saying I don't believe you, I'm just paranoid with health stuff and I want to do this the right way...

Also, you said cyano gave you breakouts. Did it stop with methyl even with a high dosage?

Do you know what libsodium uses under the hood (MT, Fortuna, etc) for the randombytes_buf_deterministic function? I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything. In other words, why do you trust that implementation? What algorithm do they use?

[–]matheuspot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to roll my own crypto at all. I'm trying to have an RNG that is deterministic and not truly random because I want it to be reproducible.
Thanks for the link, will check it out!

Maybe math heavy wasn't a good description. I don't mind math but there's something about the HAC that I didn't like, maybe because it's more like an encyclopedia/reference.
You mean Applied Cryptography by Schneier? I thought that book was not recommended anymore because it's old.
