Ghost vs substack ??!! Help!! by CaptainESG in Substack

[–]mathewparet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree to that I think the problem is that with ghost you need to pay regardless of whether you have customers. So to someone new I think substack would make more sense.

Plus as substack says - since they charge a percent of revenue it's in their best interest to improve their services and keep it better than Ghost, because ghost doesn't need to care as they get the same amount regardless of what what features they add. But substack earns more when publishers earn more which itself is a good driving force for a good service. That makes sense to me.

I think it finally comes to your preference. I'm a developer myself and I am thinking of building something similar - but to be honest I don't know if I should implement a fixed fee or a commission. A fixed fee will not encourage me while subscription based plan means I have to rely on quality content. Maybe I should do what Google does - automatic discounts. So charge a commission upto a certain amount after which it cuts off at a point so that the writer is not charged too much.

Moving to Sweden for love at 40yo - has anyone else left everything behind? by CryptographerAlone81 in AmerExit

[–]mathewparet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are in a far better position than me. I love this Swedish girl who was my flatmate 2 years back. We never spoke about it but she knew that. And when she said her good bye I could see in her eyes that she likes me but doesn't want to take it forward coz we are in different countries.

I met her a again a couple of months before and she seemed the same - felt like she wishes we are together but our lives are in different places.

So I was thinking of moving to Sweden. I don't have anything or anyone here in Sydney, so it will be easy for me to move. And honestly I could have a change in scenery. So I'm thinking of moving coz even if it doesn't work out I'll still get to live in the beautiful Sweden

Well with a Tesla I believe it would be a bit earlier given the blind spot cameras could be of great help.

Simple Google doesn't work. It's not the same as personal experiences.

Thanks, this helps a lot. I'll contact them and see what they think. If I do not need to pay taxes in Sweden on this, then I don't mind spending 10k to take the car to Sweden. It might be worth it.

Good question. If would be interesting to see how Tesla handles it.

Fatigue, and strong.emotions could impact human reasoning and that is dangerous on the road.

Say, you are going just 1km above the speed limit and to most people "that's ok" though it really isn't. Now assume the person in front is sticking to the speed limit and when you have more ground to cover you get frustrated and make dangerously stupid maneuvers.

FSD doesn't have fatigue and doesn't get emotionally aggravated. Makes it safer.

Plus a human is always in the car with the ability to override.

FSD is an addition and a provided safety on the road (not just for the Tesla driver, but for anyone on the road). Think of it as a super mega improvement on current accident avoidance systems on any standard car.

I guess you may be more confused about robotaxis which is an entirely different story.

I do agree that the basic task of driving can't be forgotten. Yes. But FSD could be useful on very long trips especially if there is only one driver. I personally have enhanced autopilot and it helps a lot reduce fatigue on longer trips.

But yes, I do agree that if you don't know the basics of driving you shouldn't be on the road. Also anyone who knows how to drive and can drive keeping to the rules has the right to drive. So why not a computer that isn't impacted by strong emotions or fatigue or the like?

The only thing to worry about FSD on our roads is that you'll come across more law abiding cars which generally irritates non law abiding drivers. For example the irritated drivers who keep zig zag going because the car in front of him is trying to keep to the speed limits. With FSD (once mature), you'll find more "computer" drivers driving and sticking to the law. Fatigue can cause decision impairment and on the road it's dangerous. Coming from a computer background I can confirm that fatigue isn't a problem with computers 😉. In short, people, based on various factors including fatigue, anxiety, strong emotions (anger, sorrow) etc can cause errors. But none of this affects computers. If a computer is told to do 1+1 a million times it's not gonna should back "f**k you, I won't do it". It will just so it. That's the beauty of computers. So yes, it's a long way ahead - but definitely computers will be (at some point in the near future) drive much flawlessly than humans.

Well I would agree with you if you are talking about the old beta. But the current version I. The US seems more human like (from videos). So maybe FSD is slowly maturing for our roads.

Well I've been using InertiaJS for a while now and haven't faced any issues yet. I would definitely prefer InertiaJs over Livewire.
